Ramussen struck out five and walked one on the day while throwing 68 percent of his pitches for strikes. Rasmussen leaned heavily on his cutter to lefties and did have a 23 percent swinging strike rate against them on the pitch, but the cutter was less successful against Toronto’s righties. He struggled to command the four-seam fastball in this one as well, with just a 20 percent CSW on the pitch. Overall, it was not his best effort, but still not a terrible day for Rasmussen, who has become really dependable as a starter. He’ll head to Fenway this weekend to take on an enigmatic Red Sox offense.

Blue Jays’ skipper John Schneider noted on Friday that the Jays don’t expect Barger to be out for much longer than the minimum stint on the injured list due to inflammation in his elbow. It sounds like it’s possible he may not even require a minor league rehab assignment before returning to the Blue Jays’ lineup.

The 24-year-old outfielder was off to an outstanding start at the Triple-A level, slashing .344/.491/.496 with four homers, 27 RBI, eight stolen bases and a 28/30 K/BB ratio across 161 plate appearances. He’s unlikely to see enough action with the Rockies to warrant any mixed league consideration.

The 28-year-old southpaw will add a fresh arm to the Rockies’ bullpen mix for at least a few days while the Rockies figure out how to cover Chase Dollander’s spot in the rotation. Peralta has posted a 3.79 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 14/5 K/BB ratio across 19 innings at the Triple-A level this season.

Freeman will be away from the team for the weekend as he welcomes a new addition to his family. Sterlin Thompson was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move on Friday.

We still haven’t heard word on the results of his MRI exam and how much time the 24-year-old right-hander may stand to miss. Sammy Peralta was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move to add a fresh arm to the Rockies’ bullpen while they figure out how to handle Dollander’s spot in the rotation.

There haven’t been any reports of any lingering ailments for the 36-year-old infielder, so we’ll assume that this is just a regular day of rest for Altuve. Brice Matthews will start in his place at second base and will bat leadoff for the Astros against Rangers’ right-hander Jack Leiter.

The 26-year-old right-hander has worked his way back from a shoulder ailment that cost him the first seven weeks of the season. When he takes the hill against the Dodgers on Sunday it will be his first time on a big league mound since July of 2024. Rodriguez struck out 11 batters over 4 2/3 innings in his final minor league rehab start and shouldn’t have any major workload restrictions in Sunday’s debut.

It appears to be a routine night off for the speedy infielder, though he’s hitting just .202/.310/.226 through his first 149 plate appearances on the season so this could start to become a regular occurrence. Jorbit Vivas will start in his place at second base and bat seventh for the Nationals against Shane Baz and the O’s.

Not good, to say the least. It’s the second game in a row Buxton has missed. We haven’t seen a real update about him just yet, but we’re sure the Twins will say something in the coming hours.

Surely that’s not Ricky Nolasco, you’d think. And you’d be right. He doesn’t spell his name like Nolasco at all. Vanasco had a 14.54 ERA in 4 1/3 innings for the Tigers over four appearances. The 27-year-old figures to be back at some point with another chance as a fresh arm later this year due to his great work with the Mud Hens.
