Luis Arraez remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday with hand soreness.
The Giants are off on Thursday, so the Giants will sit Arraez for the second straight game in the hopes that he’s ready to go on Friday. Casey Schmitt will start at second base and bat third with Bryce Eldridge in the lineup at designated hitter.

Carlos Narváez (hand) is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Rays.
Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy told reporters that Narváez is fine after being hit by a pitch during Friday’s contest against the Rays. However, he’s going to get some extra time off to recover with Mickey Gasper behind the plate in this one.
Cubs would be 'in shambles' without Imanaga
James Schiano discusses Shota Imanaga's performance against the Cincinnati Reds and how the pitcher has shaken off a rough end to the 2025 season.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #35
Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy told reporters Garrett Crochet (shoulder) felt “great” after playing catch on Friday.
Crochet has resumed flat-ground throwing and should be ready to progress to bullpen sessions next week. The 26-year-old fantasy ace hit the injured list with shoulder inflammation back on April 29. The positive news is that an MRI didn’t reveal any structural damage and he figures to ramp up his throwing program shortly. There’s a chance he’s back in a couple weeks after a couple minor league rehab starts.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #56
Rays selected the contract of RHP Aaron Brooks from Triple-A Durham.
Brooks, who was pitching in the independent Mexican League just a few weeks ago, joins Tampa Bay’s relief corps as a swingman-type option shortly after signing a minor league contract. The 36-year-old hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since 2024 when he made five appearances for the Athletics. He can be ignored in all fantasy formats.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #59
Rays optioned RHP Mason Englert to Triple-A Durham.
Englert heads back to the minors after throwing 46 pitches over 3 1/3 scoreless frames against the Red Sox on Friday night to save Tampa Bay’s overworked bullpen. The 26-year-old figures to be back as soon as he’s eligible in late May, if an injury doesn’t bring him back earlier.
  • TB Right Fielder #55
Rays designated OF Justyn-Henry Malloy for assignment.
Malloy never wound up appearing in a game for the Rays after being acquired from the Tigers in a small trade back in early January. The 26-year-old has hit just .209/.311/.346 with nine homers and one steal in 357 plate appearances over 123 games in the majors since 2024. At just 26 years old, there’s probably another organization out there willing to roll the dice on Malloy as a low-risk reclamation project.
  • HOU Left Fielder #31
Astros claimed OF Rhylan Thomas off waivers from the Mariners.
Thomas will report to Triple-A Sugar Land as organizational depth for Houston after getting into three games with the Mariners last year. The 26-year-old has hit .260/.313/.328 with two homers and six steals in 31 games at the Triple-A level this season.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #58
Astros transferred RHP Hunter Brown to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move doesn’t change anything from a return timeline standpoint as Brown continues to work his way back from a shoulder ailment that will keep him on the shelf until at least early June. The 27-year-old fantasy ace has thrown a couple bullpen sessions recently and should be ready to face hitters soon.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #63
Red Sox activated RHP Justin Slaten from the 15-day injured list.
Slaten returns to Boston’s high-leverage mix after missing nearly five weeks recovering from an oblique strain. The 28-year-old setup specialist tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings before hitting the shelf back on April 8.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher
Red Sox optioned RHP Jack Anderson to Triple-A Worcester.
Anderson heads back down to the minors with Justin Slaten coming back from the injured list. The 26-year-old rookie has allowed just three runs over eight innings of work across three appearances for the Red Sox this season.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #49
Mets signed RHP Xzavion Curry to a minor league contract.
Curry fortifies New York’s relief depth on the doorstep of the majors. The 27-year-old swingman has made 62 appearances in the big leagues since 2022, including three with the division-rival Marlins last year.
