Geraldo Perdomo is hitting second on Monday against the Angels.

This is different. It’s mostly been Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll atop Arizona’s lineup the last few weeks with Perdomo hitting towards the bottom of the order. The 26-year-old has seemingly pulled out of his early-season tailspin at the dish, hitting .333 (14-for-42) with one homer and three steals in 13 games since the start of June. Marte remains in the leadoff spot with Carroll hitting third during Monday’s series opener at Chase Field.

Blue Jays designated RHP Hayden Juenger for assignment.

Juenger is off the 40-man roster, and it clears room for Shane Bieber (elbow) to be activated off the 60-day injured list for his season debut Tuesday against the Astros. Juenger could see interest on the waiver wire, but if he goes unclaimed or untraded, he’ll likely report back to Triple-A Buffalo.

Blue Jays optioned RHP Lazaro Estrada to Triple-A Buffalo.

Estrada gets the boot to make room for Shane Bieber (elbow) on the active roster. Estrada will likely be back as a potential multi-inning option at some point this summer.

Blue Jays activated RHP Shane Bieber from the 60-day injured list.

Bieber was supposed to come off the IL to start Sunday against the Cubs, but that outing was postponed due to rain. The 31-year-old will instead make his season debut Tuesday against the Astros after missing the first two-plus months while recovering from his elbow ailment. Bieber is not the same dominant option he was for the Guardians a few years ago, but he’s a solid fantasy option who deserves roster consideration now that he’s healthy enough to bolster the Toronto rotation.

Logan Gilbert and Emerson Hancock will piggyback during Saturday’s game against the Guardians.

Gilbert has been outstanding as of late, while Hancock has scuffled over his past two outings. The Mariners will be rotating hurlers in their piggyback situation rather than going to a six-man rotation for the foreseeable future, and it’s less than ideal from a fantasy perspective.

Marquee Sports Network’s Bruce Levine reports that the Cubs “do not expect Justin Steele to be starting games this season.”

Levine mentions that Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer said Steele could “help in the pen at some late summer point.” Steele is working back from elbow surgery and a setback he suffered earlier in May, so the team is clearly being cautious with him. While he may pitch innings for the Cubs later this summer, it no longer seems like he needs to be stashed in redraft fantasy leagues.

With Ali Sánchez going on the Paternity List, Escarra will get another shot with the Yankees. He will likely catch one game before Sánchez returns later this week.

Reds optioned OF Will Benson to Triple-A Louisville

Benson is hitting just .188/.310/.333 in 114 plate appearances this season with a 33.3 percent strikeout rate. Now 28 years old and with a 33.3 percent career MLB strikeout rate in 405 games, you have to wonder if Benson’s time in Cincinnati may be drawing to a close. Noelvi Marte could also be pushed off of right field if the Reds want to play Spencer Steer out there with Elly De La Cruz back.

Reds activated SS Elly De La Cruz (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list.

The Reds’ star missed a little over three weeks with a hamstring strain and will be back in the lineup on Tuesday. The bigger question will be who is in the lineup alongside him. With the Reds sending Will Benson to the minors, all of Eugenio Suarez, Edwin Arroyo, Matt McLain, Sal Stewart, and Nathaniel Lowe remain in Cincinnati’s infield. It will be curious to see how they balance the playing time, but Elly needs to be back in all lineups.

Kyle Farmer (forearm) will begin his rehab assignment at Double-A Columbus on Tuesday.

Farmer landed on the injured list with a forearm strain back on May 18th. With Ha-Seong Kim struggling and Jorge Mateo hitting .120 in June, there is a chance for Farmer to come back and push for a spot on the active roster in a few weeks.
