POINT GUARD
Chris Paul – Phoenix (vs. Houston) - DK: $9,200 / FD: $9,400 / Yahoo: $40
There are so many great games for DFS today, it’s hard to choose at any position and there are likely to be a lot of right answers, leading to a high scoring night. Paul is a nice salary for his awesome matchup tonight. The Rockets are the fastest team in the league while ranking last in defensive rating and first in fantasy points allowed overall as well to the PG position. Paul has performed well in this matchup twice already this season, despite the Suns winning easily both times. He’s a solid play for cash games tonight.
Also Consider: Dejounte Murray, Trae Young, Stephen Curry, Kemba Walker, Raul Neto, Patrick Beverley, Coby White
SHOOTING GUARD
Jalen Suggs – Orlando (vs. Atlanta) - DK: $5,900 / FD: $6,000 / Yahoo: $22
Suggs looks to be firmly past any lingering Achilles soreness as his last two games have yielded terrific results. Scoring well, with 10 assists over the weekend (vs. the Suns) and a full stat sheet Monday, Suggs is a high floor with upside option. This game is one of several with an over/under around 230 points and though the Magic are home underdogs, the Hawks are overall a fantasy-friendly matchup with the third-worst defensive rating in the league. They are most susceptible to opposing backcourts and wing players, so with Suggs’ low salary, he’s in a great spot for all lineups tonight.
Also Consider: Seth Curry, Donovan Mitchell, Josh Giddey, Donte DiVincenzo, Desmond Bane, Tyrese Haliburton, Evan Fournier, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White
SMALL FORWARD
Jayson Tatum – Boston (vs. Detroit) - DK: $9,600 / FD: $10,100 / Yahoo: $41
Tatum is a player I don’t mind spending up on as the SF position is a bit bare at the top with James and Edwards both questionable ahead of the break. Tatum has been returning great value in his last two games, both big double-doubles with two blocks apiece. The Pistons are a league-best SF matchup for fantasy, with a nice pace bump as well as the worst rebounding rate in the league. If you’re not spending on Tatum, there are several cheaper options that I love tonight as well.
Also Consider: Deni Avdija, Alec Burks, Buddy Hield, Devin Vassell, Bogdan Bogdanovic
POWER FORWARD
Justise Winslow – Portland (at Memphis) - DK: $6,000 / FD: $6,600 (SF) / Yahoo: $19
I, for one, could not be happier that Portland is giving Winslow his shot to show how he can contribute. He’s been filling the stat sheet for them (and us) in his last four games there with double-digit scoring in each to go with an average of 7.5 rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block per game. His salary has finally jumped, but he should still be worth the price in a high scoring and fast-paced game with a Memphis team that might be without Ja Morant tonight.
Also Consider: Domantas Sabonis, Jaren Jackson Jr., DeMar DeRozan, Darius Bazley, Josh Hart
CENTER
Brandon Clarke – Memphis (vs. Portland) - DK: $5,000 / FD: $6,100 (PF) / Yahoo: $17
I’m getting to be a broken record about Clarke, and you do have other options here tonight, especially if you save at SF in order to spend on one of the stud centers. Clarke is still very cheap on Yahoo, and perfectly reasonable on the other sites for what he’s producing in limited court time. He did see over 30 MPG Saturday, but is generally in the low 20’s. Still, he’s giving well over a fantasy point per minute, dominating good matchups especially, a trend that should continue tonight. Portland currently ranks as the sixth-most generous opponent for opposing centers, and as noted above, this is expected to be a high scoring game with the Grizzlies big home favorites. I enjoy seeing Steven Adams do well, and he’s been playing great lately too, I just don’t think he’s worth the new salaries.
Also Consider: Nikola Jokic, Pascal Siakam, Jakob Poeltl, Deandre Ayton, Nikola Vucevic, Karl-Anthony Towns
Additional Notes
Seth Curry (G – BKN) keeps appealing to me despite this not being one of the obviously good fantasy games on the slate. His usage should be very high with Kyrie Irving out again, and Ben Simmons not ready to play until after the break. In his first go with the Nets, he took 18 shots and scored 23 points with ample assists and rebounds. The matchup might not be quite as good tonight, but I think Curry will out to prove he deserves a prime spot in his new team’s rotation.
Donte DiVincenzo (G – SAC) joined the Kings and seems to have quickly worked his way into a leadership role off the bench. He scored 12 points with eight rebounds and five steals in a loss to Brooklyn Monday night. He’s super cheap across the industry and makes fitting another second-tier stud in your lineups possible.
Buddy Hield (SF – IND) has gone over 40 fantasy points in two of his three games in Indiana, playing nearly 40 MPG in all. Washington isn’t the best matchup in the league, but is far from the worst, and Vegas has this as a one-point spread with a 225-point total. Chris Duarte is ruled out, so there is no reason to expect Hield’s opportunity to decline.
