Bills placed WR Tyrell Shavers (knee) on the active/PUP list.

After tearing his ACL in early January, Shavers is a good bet to wind up on reserve/PUP at the conclusion of training camp.

Shavers actually played 22 of the team’s snaps in the second half on the torn ACL, which is absurd. The 26-year-old heads to the offseason as unlikely to play early in the season due to how late this knee injury was suffered. He had a career-best 15/245/1 receiving line on 23 targets in the 2025 season, starting nine games and being sporadically useful when the team got annoyed with mercurial second-year receiver Keon Coleman. The Bills will need to rely on Coleman to give them something in the Divisional Round.

Shavers left in the second quarter with the knee issue. He went to the locker room and the team listed him as questionable to return. Shavers was back on the field coming out of halftime, giving the Bills some extra receiver depth for the final two quarters.

Shavers injured his left knee while on punt coverage in the second quarter. He quickly left for the locker room and was listed as questionable to return. With Josh Palmer now on IR, the Bills would be forced to lean on Keon Coleman, Gabe Davis, and Brandin Cooks for wide receiver snaps if Shavers is done for the day. Bills S Jordan Poyer (hamstring) is also questionable to return.

Shavers made a massive 32-yard catch in traffic down the sideline to put the Bills in the red zone late in the third quarter. They would wind up getting stuffed on the one-yard line and turning the ball over on downs, but it was a really nice catch in traffic for the young receiver, who has emerged as a key part of the Bills’ wide receiver corps due to his run blocking and special teams ability. He may be the only receiver, in addition to Khalil Shakir, who feels like a lock to be on the Bills next season.

This will be Coleman’s fourth occasion missing game time due to disciplinary reasons in less than two years in the NFL. Kincaid (hamstring) and Samuel (elbow/neck) are both out due to injury. With Coleman out last week, the Bills relied on a wide receiver rotation including Khalil Shakir, Tyrell Shavers, Gabe Davis, Mecole Hardman, Joshua Palmer and Samuel. Hardman has since been placed on injured reserve. A heavy rotation is still expected against the Texans’ elite pass defense.

With Keon Coleman inactive for disciplinary reasons, it was Shavers who saw the biggest increase in playing time and usage. The 26-year-old did most of his damage on a 43-yard broken play touchdown, where he got behind the defense, but he also caught a few huge 20-plus yard passes throughout the game. We can’t expect this moving forward, but he’s certainly worth an add in deeper formats in case Keon Coleman’s disciplinary punishment lasts beyond one week.

Palmer was forced from play after injuring his knee and ankle while being tackled by a Falcons defender in Week 6. His continued sidelining post-bye indicates he may need another week to rehab the two injuries. Fellow Bills WR Curtis Samuel (ribs) was limited on Wednesday. WR Tyrell Shavers should see increased opportunities this weekend. He is not a reliable FLEX option, though.

Shavers (6'6/205) is a former four-star recruit who initially attended Alabama before transferring over to MSU prior to the 2020 season. He started the year splitting time with Osirus Mitchell at the starting Z-WR spot in Mike Leach’s Air Raid offense, catching nine passes for 107 yards and a touchdown over his first three games before shuttling down the depth chart in favor of WR Jaden Walley and entering the transfer portal in mid-November. Shavers should be an immediate upgrade for the Aztecs’ wide receiver corps and will likely slide right into a starting spot next season.

Really, this is “former” Mississippi State WR Tyrell Shavers. The redshirt junior technically left the program just over two weeks ago, after having only recently transferred to the program in June. Assuming Shavers finds a new home soon, it will be his third school this year, going from Alabama to Mississippi State to *insert new school name*. Shavers was a four-star signing with Alabama back in 2017, so the talent is clearly there for the 6-foot-6, 205-pounder. Stay tuned over the next few weeks for an update on Shavers’ impending transfer.

Shavers (6'6/205) transferred to MSU from Alabama in early-June when it became clear he wouldn’t challenge for playing time with the Crimson Tide’s loaded WR corps. The former four-star prospect was rated as the 12th best wide receiver from the 2017 recruiting class and had been named as the starting Z wide receiver in Mike Leach’s air raid offense. He caught two passes for 68 yards and a touchdown in his first game against LSU, but only managed to secure seven passes for 39 yards and zero touchdowns since then. He joins defensive linemen Tre Lawson and Jamari Stewart who also announced their departure from the program this week. Osirus Mitchell will assume the full time starting Z role when Mississippi State plays Texas A&M this Saturday.

Colts coach Shane Steichen said he does not expect WR Alec Pierce (ankle) to resume practicing this week.

According to The Athletic’s James Boyd, this means Pierce will miss the entirety of the Colts’ training camp program. Tough break. Pierce has roughly one month to resume practicing and ramp up enough to play in Week 1 against the Ravens. He was supposed to be diversifying his route tree in order to take on a larger offensive role. Instead, he is stuck rehabbing during preseason play. Pierce is a very risky pick in fantasy right now.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the Cowboys have explored free agent cornerback options, and CB Adoree’ Jackson is a “name to watch.”

Fowler reminds us that Cowboys DC Christian was the Eagles’ passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach from 2024-25, and Jackson spent last year playing for him in Philadelphia. A reunion could make sense, and Jackson worked out for the Cowboys back in May. Jackson notched six pass breakups and one interception last year, and reportedly has interest from a few teams. Stay tuned.

Cowboys signed EDGE Von Miller, formerly of the Commanders.

Miller, 37, had a very productive year with the Commanders last year. PFF credits him with 36 quarterback pressures, 10 sacks and 14 tackles. Miller should make a notable impact on passing downs and still has some early-down utility as well. Miller and the team reportedly agreed to a one-year pact. It’s a smart signing for Dallas.

ESPN’s Stephen Holder reports that “signs continue to point to” the Colts keeping QB Anthony Richardson on the roster in 2026.

Holder cites comments made by Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds today. Dodds did not come right out and share the team’s plans, but when asked about Richardson’s status, he stressed the importance of having three quarterbacks on the roster. The Colts’ quarterback position group was so banged up last year that they brought Philip Rivers out of retirement. Recouping value for Richardson has its merits, but the Colts intend to compete this season. Keeping the quarterback room deep makes sense.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Cardinals RB Jeremiyah Love “is dealing with a high ankle sprain.”

We suspected this might be the case when Schefter’s colleague, Jeremy Fowler, reported earlier today that the team is “hopeful” Love can play in Week 1 against the Chargers. This evening, Schefter echoed that phrasing, saying the team is “hoping” he can return in time for the season opener. Love has just under a month to get healthy. He remains a high-upside pick, but RB Tyler Allgeier should be targeted as a bench stash. The Cardinals surprisingly gave Love 14 touches in Thursday’s preseason game. One imagines they might be more conservative with his early-season touch count, assuming he is able to play, but only coach Mike LaFleur knows for sure.

Texans WR Jaylin Noel (hamstring/finger) will be out for “a few weeks” after suffering “a little bit of a setback.”

NBC Houston’s Aaron Wilson noted earlier today that Noel was not participating in practice due to a finger injury, which he suffered in July, and a recent hamstring injury. It turns out Noel’s recent hamstring injury is actually a re-injury. This is unfortunate. Fellow second-year WR Jayden Higgins has the inside track to the WR2 role. Noel was set to compete with Xavier Hutchinson and WR Tank Dell for the WR3 gig. Instead, he is losing valuable preseason reps. Noel might be best viewed as an early-season waiver wire add.

ESPN’s Turron Davenport reports that Titans OC Brian Daboll’s intent to improve on third down was a “key reason” for signing WR Wan’Dale Robinson.

Davenport penned a lengthy piece detailing how OC Brian Daboll is focused on developing QB Cam Ward’s play on third down, in the red zone and in the two-minute drill. This is pretty straightforward. Those are all high-leverage situations, so harping on Ward’s performance there makes sense. Robinson played on all three drives in the Titans’ first preseason game while veteran Calvin Ridley was on the field for one. Rookie WR Carnell Tate was on the field for the first and third drives. It is tough to get a read on Robinson’s status in the starting wide receiver trio, but a featured role on third downs could help him return FLEX value if Tate and Ridley take the Nos. 1 and 2 roles, respectively.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Vikings LB Jamal Adams suffered a season-ending knee injury in Saturday’s preseason game against the Giants.

Adams, 30, has had some tough injury luck over the course of his career. This is very unfortunate. Adams was set to play on a one-year, $1.3 million contract this season. He totaled 38 tackles, seven quarterback pressures and one sack with the Raiders last year.

Free agent DE Marcus Davenport worked out for the Bears on Sunday.

Davenport, 29, totaled just seven quarterback pressures and one sack for the Lions last year. He is likely best suited to a rotational role at this point. The Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs notes that Davenport began his career with the Saints in 2018, playing for the Bears’ current defensive coordinator, Dennis Allen.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Bears RB Kyle Monangai (knee) is believed to be “fine” after undergoing initial testing.

According to Schefter, initial tests indicate Monangai’s knee is structurally sound. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI to confirm the results, but it sounds like Monangai avoided suffering a consequential injury. This is great news for the second-year back, who warrants standalone FLEX treatment if his knee checks out. Starting RB D’Andre Swift can easily shoulder a few extra touches if Monangai needs to be eased into action next month.
