Ravens WR Zay Flowers (hamstring) is doubtful to play in Week 2 against the Saints.

Flowers entered the season at the tail end of a rehab program for the hamstring strain he suffered on August 31st. He logged two full practice sessions before dominating the Colts early on in Week 1. Unfortunately, Flowers balled too hard, aggravating the hamstring injury in the process. He is unlikely to play this week, but his return to practice today is a great sign for his Week 3 availability. The Ravens placed WR Ja’Kobi Lane (wrist) on injured reserve this week. This means WRs Rashod Bateman, Elijah Sarratt and Devontez Walker could be asked to step up, although TE Mark Andrews will probably serve as the team’s top pass-catching option.

ESPN’s Jamison Hensley reports Zay Flowers (hamstring) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.

Barring a surprise, Flowers will be a DNP when the team posts its first injury report of the week. Flowers missed Week 1 with the hamstring injury. Head coach Jesse Minter said earlier this week that he has “a good shot” at playing in Week 3, but a DNP today casts some doubt on his optimism. Rashod Bateman would be in line for another solid workload if Flowers remains out. Bateman caught seven passes for 88 yards and one score on Sunday.

Ravens HC Jesse Minter said Zay Flowers (hamstring) has a “good shot” to play in Week 3 against the Cowboys.

Flowers is one of multiple injured players who Minter said could play in Week 3. Flowers missed Week 2’s game against the Saints after reaggravating his hamstring injury in Week 1 against the Colts, but he was able to practice in a limited capacity to close out the week. We’ll see how he fares this week when the Ravens release their first injury report, but it sounds like the star receiver is trending in the right direction. In addition to Flowers, Minter also said DT Nnamdi Madubuike (neck) and LB Teddye Buchanan (knee) could also return agains the Cowboys.
Devontez Walker

Devontez Walker caught 1-of-2 targets for 47 yards in the Ravens’ Week 2 loss to the Saints.

Walker’s lone reception came on a 47-yard deep shot from Lamar Jackson. Walker fought through a DPI to make the catch, but was otherwise a non-factor for the Ravens. His 16 routes run were the fewest of any Ravens receiver who took the field in this one. Any hope fantasy managers had of Walker seeing a meaningful role with Zay Flowers (hamstring) sidelined can be put on hold for now. He will likely revert to being a healthy scratch if Flowers returns in Week 3 against the Cowboys.
Mark Andrews

Mark Andrews caught 6-of-7 yargets for 49 yards in the Ravens’ Week 2 loss to the Saints.

Andrews was targeted four times on the Ravens’ first four possessions, with his biggest play coming on a 10-yard reception to start a drive that ended with a Derrick Henry touchdown. Andrews caught a 14-yard reception on the Ravens’ final drive of the game as they tried to mount a comeback, but the drive ended on an interception by Lamar Jackson three plays later. Andrews has caught 10 passes for 98 scoreless yards on 13 targets through his first two games. It’s decent production for a tight end, but he continues to look like a shell of the player he once was. He’ll be a boom-or-bust TE2 in Week 3 against the Cowboys.

Rashod Bateman caught 7-of-9 targets for 88 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens’ Week 2 loss to the Saints.

Bateman came up in a big way for the Ravens, who were without Zay Flowers (hamstring) and Ja’Kobi Lane (wrist) in this one. Bateman’s nine targets would end up leading all Ravens pass-catchers, and he came up with a big 22-yard touchdown late in the second quarter to extend the Ravens’ lead to 14-6 heading into halftime. It was an encouraging game overall for Bateman, who saw only one target last week while running 27 routes. Despite a strong day, Bateman will be hard to trust in next week’s game against the Cowboys if Flowers is able to play.

Ravens declared WR Zay Flowers, LB Teddye Buchanan, OG Andrew Voorhees, OT Gerad Lichtenhan, DT Nnamdi Madubuike, and QB Joe Fagnano inactive for Week 2 against the Saints.

Flowers was officially ruled out on Saturday by the team, so there’s nothing too surprising to see here. Veteran receiver Rashod Bateman is expected to see an increased role with Flowers sidelined, while Devontez Walker is also active after being a healthy scratch in Week 1 against the Colts. If possible, it would be best to avoid all Ravens receivers in fantasy this week.

Ravens downgraded WR Zay Flowers (hamstring) to out for Week 2 against the Saints.

The team pulled the plug on Flowers’ potential to play in Week 2 after the veteran receiver departed the team’s Week 1 win with a hamstring injury. No word yet on how long the injury is expected to sideline Flowers, who appears to have a good shot at suiting up when the team faces off against the Cowboys on the road in Week 3. Tight end Mark Andrews could see a slight uptick in volume in the interim.

Flowers missed back-to-back practices to start the week, but his return on Friday is an encouraging sign for him entering the weekend. The Ravens will release their final injury report shortly, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Flowers drew a questionable tag and was viewed as a game-day decision after the Ravens have a chance to look at him in warmups. We will provide an update on his status when we learn more.

Ravens OC Declan Doyle said he was trying to get WR Rashod Bateman the ball more.

Bateman caught 1-of-2 targets in Week 1, but the catch was erased by a penalty. Bateman, 26, has never established himself as a reliable contributor. Ravens WR Zay Flowers (hamstring) is ailing and WR Ja’Kobi Lane (wrist) is on injured reserve. Those factors, coupled with Doyle’s comments, could result in one or two plays designed for Bateman early in the Ravens’ Week 2 game against the Saints, but Bateman’s long, unproductive history suggests he is not about to handle a big-time workload. He is not a recommended FLEX starter in 12-team leagues.

Early reports regarding Flowers’ health and Week 2 availability were positive, but two missed practices put him firmly in the questionable camp, with a lean toward sitting. Flowers and TE Mark Andrews banked six targets apiece last week and were the only Ravens who cleared three. With WR Ja’Kobi Lane (wrist) on injured reserve, Andrews should handle another sizable workload. Ravens WRs Elijah Sarratt and Devontez Walker should both be active if Flowers sits.
