Dolphins WR Chris Bell (knee) was seen working off to the side on Thursday.

According to the Sun Sentinel’s David Furones, Bell mostly worked on the side and went inside before the portion of practice open to the media ended. Bell could end up being listed as a limited participant today, but he is clearly barely participating. It would not be surprising to see a DNP next to his name later today. He was limited yesterday. Bell underwent ACL reconstruction late last year. Hopefully, they are only managing soreness.

With Caleb Douglas sidelined with an ankle issue, talented third-rounder Bell finally broke out after totaling just one catch for 25 yards through the Dolphins’ first two contests. The No. 94 overall pick looked big and explosive with the ball in his hands, and could have had a much bigger day had Malik Willis been able to find him on what might have been a pair of long touchdowns. Bell’s box scores figure to remain inconsistent going forward — Willis is a dual-threat quarterback with a bevy of young, unproven wideouts — but he is certainly worth taking a flier on if currently un-rostered in your 12- team league. Bell’s pre-draft profile as a size/speed menace who only fell because of his torn ACL looked 100 percent accurate against the Chiefs.

Bell upgraded to full participation on Friday after two limited sessions. The rookie wide receiver has been bothered by fluid and soreness in his surgically repaired knee since Week 1, so the Dolphins have limited his snaps in-game. With fellow rookie WR Caleb Douglas (ankle) sidelined for Week 3, the coaching staff could draw up a couple of extra plays with Bell in mind, though he can only be viewed as a WR4.

Bell said Thursday that he expects to play, but Hafley added to that expectation when speaking with the media Friday. The rookie third-rounder has drawn just three targets this season while running 31 routes, but he could see an uptick in targets with Caleb Douglas (ankle) officially ruled out. Bell will be hard to trust as anything more than a WR4 in an offense that currently ranks 30th in total pass attempts and 24th in passing yards.

Bell said the fluid and soreness have been bothering him since Week 1, but he has been pushing through it. The team is now limiting his practice reps so he can spend extra time working with the training staff. As far as how it impacts him, Bell said he has to spend more time warming up than he has in the past to avoid stiffness. Bell tore his ACL in November 2025. He is not yet running a full complement of routes and will likely remain on a snap count, at least in the short term.

We expect Douglas to be listed as a non-participant today, just like yesterday. Douglas got his ankle rolled up on in Week 2, which is always a concerning injury. Fortunately, his foot was only planted for a moment, so he may have avoided the worst-case scenario. He was later seen wearing a boot. The prudent move is to expect Douglas to miss Week 3. Fellow Dolphins WR Chris Bell (knee) will either be listed as a non-participant or limited, but it sounds like it would be a very light limited, if so.

This could just be maintenance for a player who is likely still on a pitch count as he continues to put distance between himself and his 2025 torn ACL. On the other hand, Bell has not been on the injury report before today, so we’re at least a little bit concerned. With Caleb Douglas banged up, Bell would have been in line for more routes this week. That’s far less likely now.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #18
It’s been a slow start to the season for Bell, who played on 21 of Miami’s 56 snaps and ran a route on 11 of their 30 dropbacks. That being said, many people expected Bell to start the season on the PUP list after tearing his ACL last year in college. The fact that he was healthy for Week 1 and was allegedly not on a snap count caused us to maybe get our hopes up too quickly. The 22-year-old is a talented receiver and could likely end the season as the Dolphins’ best option, but he’s going to take some time to build up to the role.

Bell was less involved than fellow third-round rookie WR Caleb Douglas, but Bell still bagged a 25-yarder on a post route via play action. He nearly snagged another pass from QB Malik Willis on the run, but a Raiders defensive back got a hand on the ball, breaking up the pass. He clearly ran as the No. 3 wide receiver in snaps, but now is the time to add him and stash him on the bench. He should not be in fantasy lineups next week against the 49ers.

“We believe those guys deserve to start, and we’re gonna start them,” was Hafley’s matter-of-fact Wednesday statement. His words come after the ‘Fins officially listed the third-round rookies as starters on Tuesday. His “pitch count” comments pertain to Bell’s summer stint on the NFI list as he completed his recovery from torn ACL suffered last season at Louisville. Starting a pair of Day 2 receivers in Week 1 is far from ideal for anybody, but no less so than trotting out Jalen Tolbert. The Dolphins are fully committed to their rebuild, and rookies like Bell, Douglas and Kevin Coleman are the biggest potential beneficiaries. Bell and Douglas belong on 12-team league watch lists, with Coleman worth a dynasty stash.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #18
Bell is yet another young wideout in Miami — along with Caleb Douglas — who could make a fantasy impact right away as the Dolphins deal with what looks on paper to be an extremely rough defense. Bell only just shed his non-contact jersey in late August, so we’re expecting a slow start, but his Week 1 performance could certainly throw him on waiver wire columns if he starts and plays most of the snaps.

Noah Fant caught 4-of-4 targets for 33 yards and two touchdowns in the Saints’ Week 3 loss to the Raiders.

Fant chipped in two touchdowns in a game that tied an NFL record for tight end touchdowns (six). His first was on a three-yard slant. His second was an impressive catch-and-run play via play-action from 16 yards out. Fant is not on the starting radar next week against the Falcons.

Juwan Johnson caught 8-of-8 targets for 53 yards, two touchdowns and one lost fumble in the Saints’ Week 3 loss to the Raiders.

Johnson was getting open at will on out routes and shallow crossers. He and TE Noah Fant, along with the two Raiders tight ends, combined for six touchdowns, tying an NFL positional record. Johnson fumbled while trying to make a big play for his team late in the game. He attempted to stiff-arm LB Nakobe Dean, who cleanly punched the ball out for CB Eric Stokes to recover. Johnson made a real heads-up play earlier on, though. Saints QB Tyler Shough threw a bad pass to Johnson earlier on, which CB Hezekiah Masses easily picked off and returned downfield. Johnson raced after him and successfully punched the ball out with a diving hammer-fist, but the Raiders ultimately recovered that fumble, leading to a turnover for the Saints. Johnson remains a reliable TE1 against the Falcons next week.

Devaughn Vele caught 3-of-6 targets for 39 yards in the Saints’ loss to the Raiders.

Vele nearly added a decent first-down pickup to his box score, but he was unable to secure the pass as he was diving to the ground. Aside from that, he had a nice 17-yard gain in which he ripped his leg away from a would-be tackler and scampered away for a few extra yards. Vele is a boom-bust FLEX against the Falcons next week.

Chris Olave caught 9-of-13 targets for 107 yards in the Saints’ Week 3 loss to the Raiders.

Olave won at every level, be it on outs, corners or crossers. He nearly scored three times. Once on the Saints’ first possession, another on the third and again on the fourth. Saints QB Tyler Shough overthrew him on the first sequence. Olave had his defender beat as he broke inward at the Raiders’ 10-yard line. On the second one, Shough tried to force a tight-window throw from the Raiders’ three-yard line but two Raiders defenders swatted the pass down at the line of scrimmage. The last one was perhaps the biggest heartbreak. Shough connected with Olave on a slant route from the Raiders’ seven-yard line and Olave was tackled immediately after catching it at the one-yard line. Saints TE Juwan Johnson scored two plays later. Olave remains a WR1 against the Falcons next week.

Jauan Jennings caught 1-of-2 targets for one yard in the Vikings’ Week 3 win over the Bucs.

Jennings hasn’t been part of the Minnesota passing attack through three weeks. Against the Bucs Jennings ran the second most pass routes on the Vikings, behind only Jordan Addison. The low-volume Vikings passing offense likely can’t support more than one fantasy viable pass catcher per week. Jennings should remain on waivers for now.

Darnell Washington caught 3-of-4 targets for 67 yards in the Steelers’ Week 3 win over the Bengals.

No, Washington can’t be trusted in fantasy, but he sure is fun when he gets a full head of steam. Washington caught a season-high three passes in Sunday’s win over the Bengals and led the Steelers in receiving yards, thanks largely to the 47-yard play he made in the fourth quarter. A true man among boys with the ball in his hands, Washington rumbled through and past multiple defenders on his way to the big gain. While he’s always good for an exciting play or two, Washington can be left on waivers for now.

Tyler Shough completed 29-of-42 passes for 255 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in the Saints’ 27-35, Week 3 loss to the Raiders, adding one rush for 36 yards and two lost fumbles.

Shough funneled four touchdown passes to Saints TEs Juwan Johnson and Noah Fant, bringing the game’s total to six and tying a league record. The Saints’ quarterback played well overall, though his interception was due to a poor throw. Both fumbles were caused by Raiders pass rushers, and Shough had a third fumble reversed by an illegal contact penalty on the Raiders. Regardless, he can be trusted to throw the ball voluminously while adding a little extra with his legs. He warrants low-end QB1 treatment against the Falcons next week.

Pat Freiermuth caught 2-of-4 targets for 30 yards in the Steelers’ Week 3 win over the Bengals

Aaron Rodgers narrowly missed Freiermuth on a 20-plus-yard throw in the third quarter that could have been a touchdown if they had connected. Freiermuth has been targeted 14 times through the first three weeks but has just one meaningful fantasy line (5-45-1) thus far. Fantasy managers can find better options that Muth in Week 4’s game against the Browns.

Jalen McMillan did not catch his lone target in the Bucs’ Week 3 loss to the Vikings.

McMillan sustained a knee injury in the first quarter and did not return to the game. The Bucs said they would evaluate the injury on Sunday night. Ted Hurst ran almost every route in the Tampa offense with McMillan sidelined, catching a 40-yard touchdown in the first half. Hurst would continue to play significant snaps if McMillan is out for a while.

Jalen Nailor caught 1-of-3 targets for 16 yards in the Raiders’ Week 3 win over the Saints.

Nailor picked up on first down on the Raiders’ opening drive after going in motion and running a crossing route. Raiders QB Kirk Cousins was off-target on his other two throws to Nailor. He does not need to be rostered in 12-team leagues.
