Davante Adams caught 7-of-13 targets for 137 yards in the Rams’ Week 3 loss to the Broncos.

Adams’ 137 yards combine with the 195 yards he erupted for in Week 2 to set a new high in receiving yards in consecutive games during his remarkable career. Even more stunning was the fact that he did so against one of the top corners in the league in Pat Surtain, who shadowed Adams for all but a handful of his routes, proving his ability to get open against top competition even in the later stages of his career. Puka Nacua missed both Week 2 and Week 3 and his injury timeline remains convoluted, at best. Adams will remains a top-tier WR1 should Nacua miss more time, and would be solid WR2 should Nacua return for a Week 4 meeting with the Eagles.

In a surprisingly candid interview with ESPN Los Angeles, McVay certainly did not sound optimistic that Nacua would play in Week 3. Nacua has already missed one practice this week and there’s been no indication that he will get back on the field over the next two days. Davante Adams racked up 195 yards and two scores with Nacua out in Week 2. It will be hard not to rank him as a WR1 once Nacua is ruled out. Terrance Ferguson operated as the team’s No. 2 receiver last week and will be in the TE1 mix without Nacua.

Sean McVay was unsure if Nacua would be able to play in Week 3 when asked about it on Tuesday. A DNP today suggests Nacua will need at least one more week of rest before returning to the lineup. Terrance Ferguson finished second on the Rams in targets last week with nine. He caught six passes for 54 yards and a score. No receiver outside of Davante Adams was targeted more than two times. Adams was utterly dominant, turning his 10 targets into 195 yards and two scores. Those are the only two major beneficiaries of Nacua’s likely absence.

Adams seamlessly stepped into the alpha role in the offense in the absence of Puka Nacua, routinely making absurd catches on the perimeter while also showcasing his adept route-running abilities in the open field. His first touchdown came on a deep post route following a double move, during which he strode beyond three defenders. He would cash in again from 11 yards out on a fade to the corner of the end zone. Adams remains a top-tier WR2 with WR1 upside when the Rams take on the Broncos in Week 3.

There was plenty of talk about how great Adams looked in the precursor to the season, but it wasn’t on display in Week 1. The 33-year-old had a long gain of just 13 yards, and he and Matthew Stafford were unable to find many openings against the San Francisco secondary. Adams will get a chance to rebound in Week 2 in a Monday Night Football contest against the Giants.

“If there was concern over whether Adams still had it as a perimeter wide receiver at age 33, this camp has put a lot of those questions to rest,” Atkins said, adding Adams had retained his otherworldly connection with Matthew Stafford. “Adams looks fresh and explosive, and he was virtually uncoverable in the joint practices against the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints.” Atkins conceded that the Rams “might have to get creative again with load management at times” to ensure Adams can get through a whole season without injuries. A whole training camp with Stafford — something he didn’t have in 2025 — could make Adams one of the sneakier wideout selections outside the first couple rounds of fantasy drafts.

McVay said he was up front with Adams about the possibility of a trade earlier this offseason, but said the team ultimately decided that trading the 33-year-old receiver wouldn’t do much to benefit the team. Adams caught 60 passes for 789 yards in his first season with the Rams, playing second fiddle to Puka Nacua, but still managed to haul in a league-leading 14 touchdowns while operating as one of the premier end zone threats in the league. The veteran receiver is under contract through next season and should continue to thrive in the role he was in last season, putting him in the conversation as a fringe WR2/WR3 with plenty of touchdown upside.

Financial investments at the wide receiver position could have been the Rams’ primary motivating factor, though having three high-end wide receivers can hardly be viewed as a negative, albeit a pricey one. Nacua is entering the final year of his rookie contract and will presumably sign “a significant second contract” soon. Adams is due $24 million this season and Brown is set to make $29 million. Florio believes today might have been the Rams’ self-imposed deadline for trading Adams away because his $6 million roster bonus just became fully guaranteed. It appears as though Adams will remain a Ram for 2026, but anything is possible. Stay tuned.

McVay added that he has no reason to believe Adams, who is under contract with the team through next season, would not be back. Adams, 33, didn’t stuff the box score with receptions or receiving yards this season, catching just 60 passes for 789 yards, but his 14 receiving touchdowns led all players in the league this season. Adam’s touchdown production kept his fantasy value afloat in 2025, but he’ll likely need to see similar numbers if his managers hope for another top fantasy finish next season.

If the last two playoff weeks made it seem like Adams was having trouble getting reacquainted with Matthew Stafford after a long hamstring-related layoff, this game certainly made it feel like the connection was back. Adams hauled in a dart that was just shy of the goal line, then cashed in with a red zone out. Adams led the league in receiving touchdowns despite not playing the last three weeks of the season, which both says something about how good the McVay passing offense was and how bad league-wide offense was in 2025. He’ll remain a likely WR2 in 2026 even entering his age-34 season. It certainly didn’t seem like he was losing anything physically this year.

Adams was mostly a non-factor in this one, although his 12-yard reception in the fourth quarter did help set up an eventual touchdown run by Kyren Williams to give the Rams a 17-10 lead. Adams appeared to have briefly left the game with an injury, but was later back on the field taking snaps. He also secured a 12-yard pass on the Rams’ final drive in overtime to help set up the team’s game-winning field goal. Sunday’s game against the Bears wasn’t the kind of game we have been accustomed to seeing from Adams this season. He’ll look to bounce back in next week’s road matchup against the Seahawks.

Tom Pelissero of The Ringer reports that the Cowboys have acquired Joey Porter Jr. in a trade with the Steelers.

In exchange for Porter, the Cowboys will send the Steelers a second-round selection as well as a conditional sixth-round pick. Pelissero noted in his blog that trade talks between Dallas and Pittsburgh had picked up over the past few weeks, and the deal will soon become official. Porter has yet to play a snap in 2026 as he has dealt with a back injury, and also a contract dispute. The 26-year-old is one of the more talented corners in football, and Dallas has struggled considerably to stop the pass over the first three weeks. Assuming good health, Porter should be a vast improvement over what the Cowboys have gotten out of their corners to begin 2026.

Will Shipley (foot) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.

Shipley was limited by his foot issue in Week 3, and received just two targets in the passing game with no carries. With Tank Bigsby a full-go during Wednesday’s estimated session, Shipley is looking at a limited amount of touches even if he can go in Week 4.

Jadarian Price (chest) was limited in Wednesday’s practice ahead of Week 4 against the Chargers.

Price was able to play in Week 3 despite the chest ailment, although he was benched for most of the first half after giving up a second fumble of the season. If Price can’t go, George Holani and Emmanuel Wilson — not necessarily in that order — would be the replacements, and are likely to be involved regardless.

Eagles WLB Zack Baun is in the league’s concussion protocol.

It’s less than ideal news for the Eagles’ every-down ‘backer with the team on a short week against the Rams. Teams seem to be getting players through the protocol faster than ever of late, but the Eagles’ six-day work week has play-making Baun firmly on the wrong side of questionable.

DeVonta Smith (hamstring) was held out of Wednesday’s practice.

This is the same routine Smith followed last week before ultimately suiting up against the Bears on Monday Night Football. Perhaps the pattern changes with the Eagles on a short week against the Rams, but we would fully expect Smith to be out there as a high-end WR2 this weekend.

Dallas Goedert (knee) remained sidelined at Wednesday’s practice.

That leaves Goedert extremely likely to miss his second consecutive contest when the Eagles host the Rams this Sunday. Zach Ertz was Goedert’s feel-good Week 3 fill-in, but Ertz’s 38 percent snap share ended up producing one catch on two targets. With this entire offense looking rather sluggish at the moment, Ertz does not have TE2 streamer appeal.

ESPN’s Kris Rhim reports Keaton Mitchell was wearing a walking boot on his left foot after practice.

He was eventually added to the injury report as “limited” with an ankle issue. Per Rhim, Mitchell told reporters in the locker room he was okay. Mitchell was not initially on the injury report. This obviously flared up during practice but he didn’t have it looked at until after the report was posted. We will get more clarity on the situation tomorrow. Mitchell’s role grew in Week 3 with 11 touches, but a foot or ankle injury would likely limit any further progress.

Jackson Powers-Johnson (groin) did not practice Wednesday.

Powers-Johnson was the only Raider who missed practice because of an injury. Former third-round pick Caleb Rogers filled in for JPJ on Sunday, though he was only needed for five snaps. Rogers would presumably draw the start if Powers-Johnson can’t go.

J.K. Dobbins (hip) is practicing in full for Week 4 against the 49ers.

RJ Harvey was checked for a concussion in Week 3 and is not on the injury report today, meaning both backs are good to go for Week 4. Dobbins saw 17 carries versus the Rams compared to just two for Harvey, though the latter caught six passes. Dobbins caught one pass. The rushing advantage will keep Dobbins in the RB3 mix for Week 4.

KhaDarel Hodge (knee) did not practice Wednesday.

This is a low blow, even for the subsation. Hodge began the year on San Francisco’s practice squad but was promoted to the active roster when De’Zhaun Stribling went down with an ankle injury. He wound up running 45 percent of the routes in Week 3 but was not targeted once. With Mike Evans also banged up, Jacob Cowing and Jordan Watkins could be in line for more work this week.
