Jets coach Aaron Glenn said Adonai Mitchell underwent a “small procedure” on his hand.

As expected, he did not practice today. Per Glenn, Mitchell remains week to week. This explains the lengthy absence for Mitchell, who hasn’t played since injuring his finger in practice ahead of Week 3. According to Glenn, Mitchell is moving his fingers around well, which is hopefully a sign that he will be back soon. With Omar Cooper Jr.'s practice window now open, Mitchell could return to a rather crowded receiver room once he is healthy.

Looking to bounce back from a Week 7 doughnut in his return from a marathon injury absence, Mitchell responded with by far the best game of his career. This, even as one of his two missed connections was a heinous deep drop. Geno Smith never stopped looking his way, and the quarterback was rewarded with multiple chunk gains. Smith once again failed to get fully in sync with Garrett Wilson. Smith also targeted Omar Cooper Jr. zero times. That was hard to see coming, and will be difficult to sustain going forward, keeping Mitchell as more of a boom/bust WR3/4 than weekly must start. This blow-up effort confirmed he still has life in 12-team leagues, however. That will include for Week 9 against a Chiefs defense that is admittedly much better than Vegas’ porous unit.

To add insult to injury, Mitchell had a two-point conversion catch called back because of a penalty. Omar Cooper Jr. once again stole the show, reeling in several long catches en route to his second 100-yard game in a row. Playing in his first game in over a month, Mitchell did not appear awfully involved in the team’s game plan. The hope will be that he earns more opportunities next week, but Cooper Jr. may have already cemented himself as the team’s No. 2 receiver. Mitchell will be stuck in the WR5 ranks when he takes on the Raiders next week.

Mitchell has been sidelined since injuring his finger in preparation for the Jets’ Week 3 game against the Lions. It was incredibly unfortunate time for Mitchell and his fantasy managers, as his injury came just days after he went for 6-63-0 on 12 targets against the Packers. Mitchell’s return could complicate things for Omar Cooper’s fantasy managers after Cooper broke out for 6-103-1 against the Patriots last week. The Jets rank 13th in the league in plays run from 11-personnel (209) through the first six weeks of the season, which means both Mitchell and Cooper should see plenty of snaps. That said, neither player should be viewed as anything more than a WR3/FLEX play until we see how the target distribution looks with both players active.

It is too early to say whether Mitchell and his surgically repaired finger will be ready to face the Dolphins this week. He is a worthwhile bench stash, though. Mitchell played well early in the year, pre-injury and pre-breakout from rookie Omar Cooper. It is unclear whether Mitchell will return to the No. 2 wide receiver role or if he will be asked to unseat the youngster.

Mitchell has missed the past four weeks with a finger injury that required a “small procedure” to fix. Though a limited practice today doesn’t guarantee he will be back for Week 7, it’s a big step in the right direction. Mitchell had nine catches for 123 yards in his first two appearances this year. If he’s able to return this week, he would at least earn a spot on the WR3/4 border versus the Dolphins.

It was reported earlier this week that Mitchell underwent a “small procedure” on the finger he injured in practice ahead of Week 3. Given that news, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise to learn that Mitchell will miss his fourth straight game with the injury. With rookie Omar Cooper Jr. set to play in his first game since Week 1, Mitchell could face additional competition for targets when he finally returns to the field.

Mitchell will miss his third straight game with the finger injury he sustained in practice, ahead of Week 3’s game against the Lions. During Mitchell’s absence, Isaiah Williams has run 59 routes, the second-most of any Jets receiver, but has seen just five targets. Garrett Wilson is the only reliable receiver in this passing game, while rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq is a boom-or-bust option against a defense that has allowed the ninth-most fantasy points to tight ends this season.

Mitchell will likely miss his third straight game with the finger issue. He suffered the injury just as he was coming on as the team’s clear No. 2 wideout behind Garrett Wilson. With Mitchell sidelined last week against the Bears, Isaiah Williams was second on the team in pass routes, saw three targets, and caught a 58-yard touchdown from Geno Smith. Williams will have some deep-league viability in Week 5 against a Browns defense allowing the most air yards in the NFL. Adonai was officially a non-participant on Wednesday’s injury report.

Mitchell will miss another game with his finger injury and Hall will be sidelined with a quad injury he sustained last week against the Lions. Garrett Wilson, with Mitchell out, should continue dominating air yards and targets in the balanced Jets offense. Braelon Allen will take over as New York’s lead back for now and should be in all fantasy lineups against a suspect Chicago run defense. Kenyon Sadiq has some streaming appeal with Mitchell out.

Mitchell was a DNP in Wednesday’s and Thursday’s practices, so the team’s decision to rule him out on Friday doesn’t come as a surprise. Mitchell will now aim to return in Week 5 against the Browns. Rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq, who saw a season-high eight targets last week in Mitchell’s absence, will be on the fantasy radar as a fringe TE1 with Mitchell again sidelined.

DeVonta Smith (hamstring) was not seen at the start of practice.

Smith has been out since Week 6, which was his first game back from a two-week absence. In the middle of a lost season, there’s no reason for the Eagles to rush their star receiver back. We don’t expect him to play this week and it’s possible he’s out for a while longer. Makai Lemon will likely operate as the team’s WR1 once again.

Bhayshul Tuten (foot/ankle) is questionable to play in Week 9 against the Ravens.

Jaguars coach Liam Coen told reporters earlier today that Tuten will be a game-time decision for this week’s Thursday Night Football game. He also told reporters that Tuten would get in a limited session today. Unfortunately, that did not happen. Tuten logged his third DNP of the week instead. Conversely, Chris Rodriguez (hand) logged three limited sessions and was removed from the injury report. As things currently stand, Tuten is on the wrong side of questionable, while Rodriguez appears to be the likely starter. Rodriguez should be added in all 10- and 12-team leagues.

Ravens S Jaylinn Hawkins (knee) will not play in Week 9 against the Cardinals.

Cornerback Nate Wiggins is questionable with an illness. He did not practice today. Hawkins missed Week 8 with the knee issue and wasn’t able to practice once this week. The Ravens play on Thursday this week and then get an extended break until Monday of Week 10, when they’ll take on the Chargers. The extra time off might help Hawkins get back on the field.

Justice Hill (groin) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 9 against the Jaguars.

Hill saw eight targets in a blowout loss last week. Third-string quarterback Joe Fagnano peppered him with check-downs, though Hill only managed four catches. With Fagnano making his first career start tomorrow, Hill should continue to rack up targets in Week 9. He’s in the RB4 mix in PPR leagues.

Mark Andrews (hand) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 9 against the Jaguars.

Andrews has been playing through the hand injury for a few weeks without any issues. He logged three full practices this week. With Joe Fagnano making his first career start for the Ravens tomorrow, we wouldn’t advise playing any Ravens outside of Derrick Henry and Zay Flowers this week.

Adam Randall (neck) is questionable for Week 9 against the Jaguars.

Randall is currently on injured reserve, so the Ravens will have to activate him tomorrow afternoon if they plan on him playing. He will compete with Rasheen Ali for the RB3 role if he’s ready to return to the field this week. There isn’t any fantasy value to be had here.

A to Z Sports’ Charles Goldman reports that if the Chiefs trade for a wide receiver, the team “would like to acquire a long-term fixture rather than a one-year rental.”

Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters today that general manager Brett Veach has been constantly sharing potential trade targets with the coaching staff for about a month. According to Goldman, the Chiefs could also target additions along the offensive and defensive lines, but he believes the team would “likely have to acquire a receiver through other means” before focusing on the trenches. There aren’t many free agency options right now, though, so it is unclear how this scenario would play out. Goldman notes that Josh Downs and Brian Thomas Jr. “have surfaced in trade discussions.” He does not think the Chiefs will make a move before Sunday, though a move early next week, before the November 10th trade deadline, is still possible.

Hunter Henry (foot) was not seen at the start of Wednesday’s practice.

Henry could ultimately get in a limited session later in the day, but this certainly looks like a DNP. The veteran tight end injured his foot early in the Pats’ Week 8 win over the Dolphins and did not return. Rookie Eli Raridon will take his spot in the lineup if Henry is unable to play this week. Raridon is averaging an impressive 13.3 yards per catch while mixing in behind Henry this year. He would immediately be in the TE2 mix if Henry is ruled out.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Ravens are acquiring Jacoby Brissett from the Cardinals in a deal that is expected to be completed this weekend.

Schefter adds that this trade will not be completed in time for Brissett to play in Week 9’s Thursday Night Football game for the Ravens, but he will make his debut in Week 10 against the Chargers. Brissett’s impending arrival in Baltimore immediately stabilizes the pass-catching corps’ fantasy value. The trade compensation has not yet been revealed, but we expect to know more soon.

Brian Robinson (hamstring) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.

Robinson has missed the past two weeks with the hamstring issue. A limited session today puts him on track to return to the lineup against the Bengals on Sunday. Robinson had at least seven carries in every game before going down in Week 6. He will be in the RB4 mix if he gets the green light for Week 9.
