NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports A.J. Brown (ankle) is expected to play “a good amount” in Week 6 against the Jets.

Brown was activated from injured reserve this week and will suit up versus the Jets. It was reasonable to expect some sort of snap count in his first game back, but it sounds like Brown will be a full-go after looking great in practice this week. In desperate need of a true WR1 to step up, the Pats should pepper Brown with targets this week. He is back in the fantasy WR2 ranks after the lengthy absence.
Monken: There's no better time to coach the Browns
Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken joins John Fanta and Jay Croucher on Fanta in 60 to talk how he's led the 2026 Browns to first in the AFC North through 6 weeks, why he returned to Cleveland and more.

Active for the first time since Week 1, Brown had an even more disastrous outing than that inefficient box score would indicate, as he was charged with at least three official drops and could end up with 4-5 when it is all said and done. One was a potential long score where the ball literally went through his hands. It was unbecoming of a highly-paid No. 1 wideout. Brown also looked stiff moving side to side, and might not be particularly close to 100 percent health returning from his high-ankle sprain. We assume things can only get better from here, but they absolutely have to in Thursday evening’s short-week potential shootout with the Bears’ leaky defense.

As are A.J. Brown (ankle) and LT Will Campbell (knee). It’s a rare day where all the injury news went right for a team. We can’t imagine Henderson will be in large for a particularly big backup role behind Rhamondre Stevenson, but the fact that a player the Pats didn’t even really “need” for Week 6 is giving it a go suggests he is close to regular health. Henderson is a boom/bust FLEX option. Inactive for the Patriots are CB Carlton Davis, CB Karon Prunty, QB Behren Morton, CB Channing Canada, OT Dametrious Crownover and TE Tanner Arkin.

Brown makes his return from a four-game absence following a Week 1 injury to his ankle, reintegrating into an offense that has found their stride in recent weeks. After leading the league in turnovers through the first three games, quarterback Drake Maye has accounted for a league-leading eight touchdowns since Week 4. Although Brown could be on a snap count in his first game back, fantasy managers have to be feeling ecstatic to get their second round pick back on the field.

Brown returned to practice this week after going on injured reserve with a high-ankle sprain. While nothing is official yet, it’s a great sign that Rapoport is anticipating a return for the 29-year-old wide receiver in Week 6 against the Jets. Brown may not play a full complement of snaps in his first game back, but is still essentially a must-start for fantasy managers.

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said they’d make the decision on whether to activate him off injured reserve on Saturday, so at least Brown won’t be a game-time decision. Brown can be started with confidence if he’s active, though he’d potentially be in line for a pitch count to the point where he’d be more of a WR2 than a WR1 in his return.

Brown was a limited participant on Wednesday. He is reportedly taking a “one step at a time” approach to his return. We’ll see how his ankle responds to Thursday’s limited practice “with full shoulder pads.” Per Brown, the team is not rushing him back and will keep the long haul in mind when deciding whether to activate him. The Patriots (3-2) are in second in the AFC East.

Brown will return to practice today, likely for a limited session. The team now has 21 days to officially activate him from IR. That could happen later this week, which would mean he’s ready to suit up for Week 6 against the Jets. He would likely be on some sort of pitch count in his first game back, but even a limited AJB would be worthy of a spot in the WR2 ranks.

Brown has been rehabbing from a high-ankle sprain he suffered in the season-opener. It was reported on Sunday that Brown was walking without a limp, and last week NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that “the hope is” Brown will play in Week 6 against the Jets. The team has not opened his return window, which they will need to do in order for him to practice this week. Once that happens, the focus will then move to his practice status and whether or not he can log a full practice or two before the weekend. We would expect Brown’s 21-day return window in the next 24 hours if the team really believes there’s a chance he could return this week.

Brown sustained a high ankle sprain in the season opener against Seattle and has rehabbed over the past month. Patriots OC Josh McDaniels told Collins he doesn’t anticipate any delay in Brown’s return to the lineup. The team believes Brown will be ready to go in Week 6. He’ll re-enter a Patriots offense that has found its footing in recent weeks following a rough start to the year. His return would be a nice bump for Drake Maye, one of the league’s best downfield passers.

Garfolo made it clear that this is what the team hopes will happen, but it’s far from a sure thing. Week 6 is the first week Brown is eligible to return from injured reserve. The Pats placed him on IR after he suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 1. Previous reports had Brown out for 6-8 weeks, so fantasy managers should be skeptical that he will be back for Week 6, but it’s at least on the table.

Jordan Watkins caught his only target for 22 yards in the 49ers’ Week 6 win over the Commanders.

Watkins drew the start in place of the injured Deebo Samuel but was unable to take advantage of the opportunity, with 23 of Brock Purdy’s 29 targets going to the team’s top three options in Christian McCaffrey, Mike Evans, and George Kittle. Evans departed at the end of the second quarter with an aggravation of his Achilles injury, something that appears likely to cost the veteran a Week 7 game against the Falcons. That could leave Watkins in line for a second consecutive start, although the upside remains modest. Fantasy managers are likely best leaving both Watkins and veteran Brandin Cooks on the waiver wire, the latter of whom caught 1-of-2 targets for 13 yards against the Commanders.

George Kittle caught 5-of-8 targets for 69 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers’ Week 6 win over the Commanders.

Kittle got the scoring started with an 11-yard touchdown on a dime from Brock Purdy to the corner of the end zone, contributing to the offense steadily through a dominant first half before pushing his yardage totals with a 35-yard reception to start the third quarter. It was a tale of two halves for the San Francisco offense, who managed a staggering 303 yards of total offense in the first half and only 73 yards of total offense after the break, likely heavily influenced by the departure of Mike Evans at the end of the second quarter. Evens is expected to miss the team’s Week 8 contest against the Falcons, where Kittle could step into addition volume in his already-solid TE1 profile.

Christian McCaffrey rushed 16 times for 64 yards and two touchdowns in the 49ers’ Week 6 win over the Commanders, adding 53 yards on nine receptions.

McCaffrey set a season high with 25 touches and 26 opportunities in a game played without Deebo Samuel and in which Mike Evans departed just before the half with an aggravation of his Achilles injury. The veteran workhorse back again proved how high his ceiling can be with such a robust role through the air. A second quarter fumble was his first lost fumble since 2024, a stretch spanning over 500 touches since he last lost a fumble. McCaffrey remains an elite RB1 despite a difficult matchup on the ground against the Falcons in Week 7.

Brock Purdy completed 21-of-29 passes for 264 yards and one touchdown in the 49ers’ 23-17, Week 6 win over the Commanders, adding 28 yards on five carries.

Purdy and the 49ers absolutely dominated the first two quarters, gaining 303 yards of total offense on 41 plays before the break. The situation would alter course in a hurry after Purdy lost his top option through the air in the final minute of the second quarter as Mike Evans departed with an aggravation of the Achilles injury that had him listed as questionable entering the game. The team would go on to gain only 72 additional yards after the intermission, allowing the Commanders the ability to claw their way back into the game in the fourth quarter. Even so, Purdy now holds the NFL record for highest career passer rating after qualifying for the statistic with his 1,500th pass attempt in the win, which pushes the 49ers to a perfect 6-0 record ahead of a Week 7 meeting with the Falcons before their bye the following week. Purdy remains a surefire QB1 against the pass-funnel Falcons.

Stefon Diggs caught 6-of-7 targets for 44 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders’ Week 6 loss to the 49ers.

While the end line looks good in the box score, the fact that Diggs continued to operate in a situational role following the departure of Terry McLaurin in the first quarter was somewhat concerning for the veteran receiver’s upside potential in McLaurin’s absence, although the fact that he came into the game listed as questionable with a hamstring injury could have influenced his snap rate. Either way, Diggs continues to produce when on the field, returning significant value for fantasy managers that invested a middle-round pick for his services this summer. Diggs will be an upside WR3 when the Commanders take on the division rival Eagles in Week 8 following their bye.

Antonio Williams caught 3-of-4 targets for 50 yards in the Commanders’ Week 6 loss to the 49ers.

While the yardage total looks solid on paper, the fact that Williams had only four targets in a game in which veteran wide receiver Terry McLaurin departed in the first quarter and quarterback Jayden Daniels attempted 40 passes in concerning. Williams continues to flash big play upside through a multitude of injuries to teammates but has yet to fully take advantage of the increase in opportunity, something fantasy managers will hope corrects when the Commanders come out of their bye to face the Eagles in Week 8.

Treylon Burks caught 4-of-6 targets for 66 yards in the Commanders’ Week 6 loss to the 49ers.

Burks stepped into an increased role in the offense following the first quarter injury to Terry McLaurin, the latter of whom appears to have suffered a significant knee injury. The six targets ranked third on the team behind tight end Chig Okonkwo and veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs, but a late injury could immediately halt his momentum. Burks was injured on a contested ball in the end zone on fourth down with just over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and was escorted to the locker room by training staff. Fantasy managers interested in a potential waiver addition will want to track updates from the team regarding his health in the coming days.

49ers beat reporter Jennifer Lee Chan reports Mike Evans’ Achilles is intact but he is expected to “miss a little time.”

Chan speculates that the window for his recovery could align with the team’s Week 8 bye week, meaning Evans would miss just one game with an aggravation of the Achilles injury that had him listed as questionable heading into Monday Night Football against the Commanders. All things considered, it’s solid news for Evans, the 49ers, and his fantasy managers. Expect a more concrete update from the team in the coming days as they limp into a Week 7 game against the Falcons down plentiful impact wide receivers.

Chig Okonkwo caught all seven targets for 69 yards in the Commanders’ Week 6 loss to the 49ers.

Okonkwo was thrust into an increased role with the departure of lead wide receiver Terry McLaurin in the first quarter, operating as the primary option through the air for much of the game. Veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs continued to operate in a situational role, making Okonkwo a priority start when the Commanders come out of their Week 7 bye to face the Eagles in Week 8.

Rachaad White rushed seven times for 27 yards in the Commanders’ Week 6 loss to the 49ers, adding 30 yards and a touchdown on four receptions.

The Commanders immediately found themselves in a negative game environment, managing just 17 offensive plays and 90 yards of total offense in the first half. While White found the end zone from nine yards out in the fourth quarter on an in-breaking route, the backfield split amongst White, Jeremy McNichols, and Austin Ekeler was troubling for fantasy managers looking to the former as a potential option with lead back Jacory Croskey-Merritt on injured reserve. White and the Commanders head to their bye week at a 1-4-1 record and some serious questions to answer, the least of which is the current state of their backfield.
