Juwan Johnson puts up goose egg vs Giants

Juwan Johnson failed to catch either of his two targets in the Saints’ Week 6 win over the Giants.

Johnson was silent in a low-efficiency passing day for the Saints offense. The tight end position in general was a non-factor as a pass-catching group on the day. As Tyler Shough deals with broken bones in his non-throwing hand, the Saints’ passing game is tightening up and has less room for Johnson. He is a fantasy TE2 for Week 7 against the Steelers.
What Rams WR will make up for the loss of Adams?
With Davante Adams missing between 6 and 10 weeks with a hamstring injury, Patrick Daugherty and Denny Carter discuss what other Rams' wide receivers could be good fantasy roster replacements.

Johnson had hovered around 50 yards in every game before today’s loss, but a shutdown Minnesota defense was more than enough to mute the production of every New Orleans pass-catcher. Things should improve for everyone when the Saints take on the Giants next week. Johnson will be a volume-based TE2 for Week 6.
  • NO Tight End #83
Johnson saw a slight uptick in snaps and routes after Noah Fant was inactive with an abdominal injury but returned a modest receiving line while being kept out of the end zone. The towering veteran finished third on the team in targets behind Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele, the latter of whom scored the only receiving touchdown in a game that saw the two teams combine for seven rushing scores. Johnson remains a back-end TE1 for as long as rookie Jordyn Tyson remains sidelined, which appears likely to persist for another few weeks, at minimum. That holds true ahead of a Week 5 meeting with the vaunted Vikings defense.
  • NO Tight End #83
Johnson was getting open at will on out routes and shallow crossers. He and Noah Fant, along with the two Raiders tight ends, combined for six touchdowns, tying an NFL positional record. Johnson fumbled while trying to make a big play for his team late in the game. He attempted to stiff-arm Nakobe Dean, who cleanly punched the ball out for Eric Stokes to recover. Tyler Shough threw a bad pass to Johnson earlier on, which CB Hezekiah Masses easily picked off and returned downfield. Johnson raced after him and successfully punched the ball out with a diving hammer-fist, but the Raiders ultimately recovered that fumble, leading to a turnover for the Saints. Johnson remains a reliable TE1 against the Falcons next week.
  • NO Tight End #83
Johnson was on the receiving end of two big plays in Sunday’s win over the Ravens. Johnson hauled in a short pass on a third-and-13 in the third quarter and turned it upfield for a 25-yard gain. In the fourth quarter, Johnson again picked up 25 yards on a short pass on third-and-eight, taking it to the Ravens’ five-yard line and setting the Saints up for a touchdown a few plays later. Johnson has caught seven passes in his first two games and is averaging an impressive 17.1 YPR on said catches. He’ll be on the TE2 radar for next week’s game against the Raiders.
  • NO Tight End #83
Johnson posted a 3/54/1 receiving line last week and can be treated as a TE1 again in Week 2. Saints WR1 Chris Olave is nursing a hamstring strain, though the team is telling reporters that the injury is not concerning. Johnson could take on a slightly larger workload if Olave is at all limited, though we won’t know if that is the case until the dust settles and the game ends.
  • NO Tight End #83
Johnson is firmly on track to play. Illness-related absences are very rare, and the Saints’ No. 1 tight end is already back at it. The Saints face the Ravens this weekend, in what should be a high-scoring game environment. Johnson is a locked-in TE1.
  • NO Tight End #83
Players rarely miss games because of illnesses, especially when it crops up four days before kickoff. Johnson should be fine, but fantasy managers counting on him as a high-end TE2 will want to check in on Friday. Fellow tight end Oscar Delp was limited with a hamstring issue. He missed Week 1 because of the injury but has a shot at making his NFL debut versus the Ravens this Sunday. He will not be on the fantasy radar if active.
  • NO Tight End #83
Johnson didn’t catch his first pass of the game until the final minute, when Tyler Shough found him in the end zone for a game-tying score. He then racked up another 45 yards on a catch at the end of the fourth quarter and another in overtime. Johnson only finished fourth on the team in targets, which could be an issue when the team’s passing volume inevitably dips. He will be a mid-range TE2 for another potential shootout with the Ravens next week.
  • NO Tight End #88
Delp is dealing with a hamstring injury, missing the Saints’ practice on Tuesday. With Jordan Tyson (hamstring) slated to miss at least the next couple months, NFL Network’s Steve Wyche and Garafolo believe the Saints will lean on their tight ends. The rookie Delp is behind Juwan Johnson and Noah Fant on the depth chart. Based on Garafolo’s report, he won’t miss too much time with his hamstring strain; he has upside as a Dynasty stash but Juwan Johnson should be the top tight end as a low-end fantasy TE1 heading into the 2026 season.
  • NO Tight End
Jackson noted that the rookie tight end was “the top target for the team’s offense” during the team’s first day of minicamp. Most rookie tight ends don’t bring much fantasy value to the table in their first season, but Delp could be the latest exception to that rule, especially if Moore plans to follow the trend of 12 and even 13 personnel sweeping the league. Delp wasn’t awfully productive at Georgia, peaking at just 284 yards as a sophomore, but he is a solid YAC creator and isn’t afraid to put his hand in the dirt to block. Delp should at least be on the radar in all dynasty formats.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Terrance Ferguson (ankle) “will take some time” to come off injured reserve.

Ferguson is eligible to come off injured reserve next week, but Schefter reports that a source told him Ferguson’s recovery “will take some time.” The Rams placed Davante Adams on injured reserve this week and are in desperate need of pass-catching help behind Puka Nacua. Ferguson is a rising receiving tight end for the Rams, but has been on injured reserve since suffering an ankle injury in Week 3. Though he is a good IR stash for fantasy purposes, Ferguson is going to take longer than the minimum four weeks to return. Without a good timeline for return, he can be released from fantasy rosters in dire need of more immediate help during bye weeks.

Patriots CB Carlton Davis (neck) was limited in Tuesday’s practice.

It was an upgrade from an estimated Monday DNP. Davis has missed Week 2, Week 3, Week 5 and Week 6 to the neck listing so far. Perhaps he’ll try to give it a go on Thursday night, but we’d be surprised if he did better than a questionable tag on Wednesday.

TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) practiced in full on Tuesday.

It’s been a stunningly quick recovery from what looked to be a high-ankle sprain that could sideline him. Henderson has practiced in full both days this week. We’re not concerned that he won’t play, but after fumble problems struck last week and Corey Kiner closed out the Jets in the fourth quarter, we do have slightly lowered expectations for his Thursday night stat line.

A.J. Brown (ankle) was limited in Tuesday’s practice.

Brown spoke with the media today and there’s no reason to believe he’ll actually miss this game, but he was regarded as “limited” in both sessions this week and it’s fair to wonder if he’s 100 percent just yet after his drop-filled, rough Week 6. He’s best-treated as a WR2 this week — you’re still probably starting him regardless of what the ranking is.

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said Alijah Vera-Tucker (hamstring) and Ben Brown (knee) are unlikely to play on Thursday night.

Matt Pryor and Walter Rouse stepped in for the two guards towards the end of last week’s offensive line apocalypse and would likely be in line to start in Week 7. Neither Vera-Tucker nor Brown practiced on Monday or Tuesday.

Jonah Jackson (hip/quad) was limited in Tuesday’s practice.

Jackson left Sunday’s game with the injury, playing 64.9 percent of the snaps with Luke Newman spelling him. This is a good sign for his availability for Week 7 after Jackson did not practice on Monday, but he’s likely trending towards a questionable tag without a full listing on Wednesday.

Kyle Monangai (thumb/toe) did not practice on Tuesday.

He hasn’t practiced yet this week and appears very unlikely to go on Thursday night. It would seem to be trending towards another week with Roschon Johnson as the backup runner for the Bears.

Jordan Schultz reports teams seeking wideout help believe Hollywood Brown could be traded in the coming weeks.

Brown had two rushes for 12 yards against the Titans in Week 2 (not receptions) and has been inactive in every other week of the season. So, yeah, we guess he could be had. As could any of the several veteran receivers on losing teams who actually have caught a pass this year.

Eagles signed RB Eljiah Mitchell to their practice squad.

This time, they mean it. Mitchell has a decent chance to be elevated for Week 7 based on what we know today, which is that the Eagles waived Ian Wheeler from the practice squad and have only Saquon Barkley and Dameon Pierce on the active roster. This appears to be quite a fluid situation.

    Eagles waived RB Jaydon Blue.

They tacked on a waived/injured listing for Carson Steele, leaving the backfield with just Saquon Barkley and Dameon Pierce on the active roster. Blue did not officially get into a game with the Eagles after signing at the end of August. He’ll look to catch on elsewhere.
