Amon-Ra St. Brown caught 9-of-11 targets for 153 yards in the Lions’ Week 7 win over the Packers.

The Sun God didn’t find the end zone in this one, but he did rip off multiple big gains, which included plays of 28 and 40 yards on the Lions’ first two drives — both of which ended with points. St. Brown’s 11 targets led all Lions’ pass-catchers in this one, and his 153 receiving yards are good for the fifth-most he has had in any game in his career. It’s the first time in his career that ARSB has gone for 140-plus yards but failed to score a touchdown, but this was easily one of his best games to date this season. St. Brown hasn’t scored since Week 3’s game against the Jets, but he has gone for 69 or more yards in each of his last three games while seeing 11 targets in every outing. He continues to be as steady a fantasy asset as there is at receiver, and will be in the WR1 mix in Week 8 against the Vikings.

St. Brown added ten yards on a carry, which was actually a running catch on a play in which St. Brown lined up fifteen yards behind the line of scrimmage and got a running start like you might see in the CFL. He had a touchdown catch called back in the first half and had to go to the locker room with what looked to be a knee issue. It was only the second time this season St. Brown was held to less than 60 yards. He came into Week 8 ranked fourth in expected fantasy points per game. St. Brown takes on the Bills in Week 9.
  • DET Wide Receiver #14
St. Brown started the week off with an absence before logging consecutive full sessions to end the week or preparations, ultimately removed from the injury report entirely heading into the weekend. He should be good to go for a normal workload against the stingy Minnesota defense, where fantasy managers can start him with confidence as a WR1.

The upgrade from “DNP” to a full session indicates St. Brown will be fine for a normal workload when the Lions face off against the Vikings Sunday, easing fantasy managers’ collective minds after the star receiver was not present at practice Wednesday. Fantasy managers will want to confirm his status on Friday’s injury report, but it certainly appears as if the team will have their veteran alpha for the divisional tilt.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell told reporters on Monday that St. Brown would likely miss today’s practice, so this isn’t much of a surprise. Campbell also told reporters that St. Brown “should be good” for Week 8, so we’re not panicking just yet. St. Brown is one of the few players who can suit up after missing an entire week of practice. Even a DNP tomorrow wouldn’t be the end of the world. For now, fantasy managers can treat St. Brown as a WR1, but a backup plan should be in place. Jameson Williams would vault into the WR1 ranks if St. Brown misses Week 8 versus the Vikings.

St. Brown is dealing with what sounds like a minor ankle injury after Week 7’s win over the Packers. Campbell said he could likely be held out of practice on Wednesday before the team begins ramping him up on Thursday, but tempered any optimism by adding, “We’ll see when we get there.” The 4-2 Lions are playing host to the undefeated Vikings in a game that could end up deciding the winners of the NFC North later in the season. Unless this injury is more serious than Campbell is letting on, we would expect St. Brown to be on the field and operating as a high-end WR1.

Lions coach Dan Campbell tasked St. Brown with punt return duties (2/36) after Tom Kennedy got hurt. While St. Brown looked great weaving through traffic, his first return nearly ended in a lost fumble, but a teammate dove on the loose ball, bailing him out after it was punched out of St. Brown possession. St. Brown nearly had a 43-yard touchdown on a sideline play-action shot on the Lions’ seventh drive, but he couldn’t quite get his hands on it. He almost bagged short scores via out routes on the Lions’ eighth and ninth drives, but his coverage defender effectively challenged the pass on the first and the pass was just out of his reach on the second. He had a nice 36-yard catch-and-run on the eighth drive and nearly nabbed another explosive gain on the sixth drive, but Sam LaPorta accidentally knocked him down 11 yards downfield after St. Brown leapt over a downed Cardinals defender. He had another fumble recovered by a teammate after snagging a pass on a crosser. The Lions’ stud wide receiver will be an elite WR1 against the Packers following the Lions’ Week 6 bye.

It was quite the disappointing outing for the fantasy darling considering the Panthers were without their top two corners, with opposing defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero dialing up consistent pressure that caused quarterback Jared Goff fits throughout the evening. Two of Goff’s incompletions that were directed at St. Brown were batted down at the line of scrimmage, ultimately enough to keep St. Brown out of the end zone for the first time this season. St. Brown remains a top-tier WR1 ahead of a potential shootout against the Cardinals in Week 5.

St. Brown couldn’t get much going other than a handful of check-downs in this game, but he saved his fantasy backers with an end zone fade for six to close the first half. Despite the quiet showing, St. Brown still led the team in targets, tied with Jahmyr Gibbs at eight apiece. He’s now up to five touchdowns on the season. St. Brown isn’t quite in the WR1 overall mix right now, but he’s not far behind for his Week 4 matchup with Carolina.
  • DET Wide Receiver #14
St. Brown did not catch his first pass until six minutes left in the second quarter but was the primary cog of the offense after the break as the Lions worked to overcome multiple 17-point deficits. He found paint for the first time on the team’s first possession after the break before adding a second in the two-minute drill from 27 yards out. St. Brown now has 209 yards and four touchdowns on 19 receptions through two games an looks every bit of the elite WR1 fantasy managers invested a first-round pick into this offseason. Although volume through the air might be more difficult to come by in Week 3, St. Brown remains a top-tier WR1 when the Lions host the Jets in Detroit.
  • DET Wide Receiver #14
The Lions couldn’t get their deep passing game going, but that’s not an issue for St. Brown. He simply racked up a 36 percent target share including plenty of red zone and work and paid off in a big way for fantasy managers. The Saints’ frantic comeback also pushed the pace of the game, juicing the fantasy scores of everyone involved. With another shootout versus the Bills on tap for Week 2, St. Brown will remain near the top of the wide receiver ranks next week.

The Denver Gazette’s Chris Tomasson said “indications point to Broncos WR Pat Bryant returning to practice this week.”

Bryant has missed the Broncos’ last four games after being placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury. The 23-year-old receiver is eligible to return whenever the Broncos deem him ready to do so, and his practicing this week would mean the team has opened his 21-day return window. Bryant has caught nine passes for 133 yards and one touchdown and was third among Broncos receivers in routes run (91) through the first four weeks of the season. He could make for an interesting stash in deeper leagues, but fantasy managers shouldn’t rush to put him in their lineups whenever he does return.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Brian Thomas Jr. “has been the area of interest for a lot of other teams.”

Thomas is once again the subject of trade talks as next week’s trade deadline rapidly approaches. The 24-year-old receiver, who broke out for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie, has earned just 22 targets through seven games this season and has a 10-117-2 line. With so many wide receiver-needy teams out there, it’s hard to imagine the Jaguars holding Thomas, who has become more of an afterthought in the offense, but they’ve resisted trading him over the last year despite multiple teams showing interest.

    Saints released K Daniel Carlson.

Carlson has converted 8-of-12 field goals this season and is 16-for-18 on PATs. The veteran kicker who is known for his big leg has seen all four of his misses come on distances of 50-plus yards, but that was more than enough for the Saints to look in a different direction. Practice squad kicker Charlie Smyth, who converted 12 of his 16 field goal attempts for the Saints last season has a chance to be the next man up when the Saints take on the Browns in Week 9.

Ravens placed K Tyler Loop (groin) on injured reserve.

Loop will be sidelined for at least the next four weeks after suffering a right groin injury in Sunday’s loss to the Bills. The second-year kicker competed for the starting kicker job in camp and has struggled during parts of this season. He has converted on 13 of his 17 field goal attempts this year, with his four misses all coming from inside 50 yards. Veteran Jake Moody is set to take over in Loop’s absence when the Ravens face the Jaguars on Thursday night. Loop will be eligible to return in Week 14 when the Ravens play host to the Buccaneers.

Giants signed CB Greg Newsome to a three-year, $46 million contract extension.

Newsome signed a one-year $8 million contract with the Giants this offseason and is now being rewarded for his strong play during the first half of this season. The 26-year-old corner has allowed just 174 receiving yards on 26 targets this season, per PFF, earning a coverage grade of 66.1. He has been one of the league’s better outside corners this season and will now be under contract with the Giants through the 2029 season.

    Bills released DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

Shortly after being reinstated from suspension for a spitting incident in Week 6 against the Raiders, Gardner-Johnson is now in search of a new home. The 28-year-old safety started all six games he appeared in for the Bills this season, earning a PFF defensive grade of 55.2 while allowing 11 receptions for 132 yards and a touchdown on 15 targets. Gardner-Johnson has played for four different teams since 2024 and is now free to sign with anyone willing to take on the 28-year-old vet.

Commanders placed RB Jeremy McNichols (foot) on injured reserve.

McNichols is believed to have suffered a severe foot injury in Sunday night’s win over the Eagles. While he is still seeking additional opinions, it was reported on Monday that he is expected to miss multiple months, which could mean this is a season-ender. McNichols has spent the last three seasons with the Commanders, contributing primarily on special teams while also mixing in for an occasional offensive play.

Colts signed DT Adetomiwa Adebawore to a two-year, $35 million contract extension.

Adebawore, 25, is in the midst of a breakout season for the Colts. After setting career highs in tackles (36), TFLs (5), and sacks (4.0) last season, the fourth-year pro has already tallied four sacks and four TFLs in his first eight games of this season. While the Colts are in the middle of a rebuild, the decision to sign Adebawore to an extension means he’s one of the players they hope to build around in the years ahead. He is now under contract through the 2028 season.

Ravens head coach Jesse Minter said Tyler Huntley (toe) could be placed on injured reserve.

The decision on whether or not to place Huntley on injured reserve could come in the next few days as the Ravens prepare to play the Jaguars on Thursday. With Lamar Jackson (thumb) expected to be placed on IR and possibly be out for the rest of the season, Huntley landing on IR would mean the Ravens would be starting their third-string QB (or worse) for at least the next four weeks. Rookie UDFA Joe Fagnano has already been named as the starter for Thursday’s game against the Jaguars, but was seen sporting an ankle brace in Tuesday’s practice. While he’s expected to play through it, the Ravens could be forced to play either Austin Reed or Kedon Slovis, who signed with the team earlier this week.
