    Colby Parkinson among Rams inactives

Rams declared TE Colby Parkinson, QB Ty Simpson, LS Joe Cardona, OT Keagan Trost, and DE Desjuan Johnson inactive for Week 8 against the Chargers.

Parkinson will miss at least one game with a rib injury he sustained last week against the Raiders. His absence could have a big impact on playing time for both Davis Allen — who had two touchdown grabs last week — and Tyler Higbee, the de facto TE1 in the LA offense. Both tight ends are better options against the Chargers with Parkinson sidelined.

It was another disappointing outing for Higbee. This one came with Colby Parkinson (ribs) sidelined. Davis Allen had two catchers on two targets for eight yards. Higbee now hasn’t had more than 25 yards receiving in a game since the beginning of October, and has lost opportunities with the Rams going run heavy in recent weeks. Higbee won’t be a fantasy option in Week 9 against the Commanders.
  • LA Tight End #84
Parkinson gutted out an injury to his midsection against the Raiders a week ago when he was in and out of the lineup while clearly dealing with significant discomfort. He was unable to practice through Thursday this week, prompting the questionable designation ahead of a Week 8 meeting with the Chargers. Already down multiple primary pass catchers, the Rams could see further concentration of volume should Parkinson miss, a situation that could also pave the way for Davis Allen to see an uptick in opportunities in the 12- and 13-personnel-heavy Rams offense. Fantasy managers likely won’t get further updates on Parkinson’s status before the team releases inactives 90-minutes prior to first kick.
  • LA Tight End #84
Parkinson will have one more chance to get back no the practice field Friday to avoid an injury designation entering the weekend. The veteran tight end was in and out of the team’s Week 7 game with the injury but managed to finish it, apparently feeling much worse after the adrenaline wore off. Fantasy managers of Parkinson and Tyler Higbee will want to track Parkinson’s status closely to end the week. An absence from Parkinson could also bring Davis Allen into the fantasy spotlight after the young tight end scored twice against the Raiders.
  • LA Tight End #84
Parkinson has meaningfully contributed to the Rams’ offense in each of the last two weeks, but he is now at risk of missing his team’s Week 8 game against the Chargers. Were Parkinson to sit out on Sunday, Tyler Higbee would likely benefit.
  • LA Tight End #84
Parkinson was in and out of the game with various injuries, picking up a new ailment on seemingly every reception. Parkinson logged 16 pass routes while Tyler Higbee led the team’s tight ends with 18 routes. Davis Allen, meanwhile, ran a route on 12 of the Rams’ drop backs and caught two touchdowns from Matthew Stafford. Parkinson should be a viable desperation option in deeper formats next week against the Chargers if the Rams keep using three tight end sets at a high rate. He has ten receptions over his past two outings.
  • LA Tight End #87
The Rams in Week 7 resorted to a heavy dose of three tight end sets with Davante Adams sidelined with a long-term hamstring injury. That led to 12 pass routes for Allen, fewer than both Colby Parkinson and Tyler Higbee. He caught two red zone touchdowns from Matthew Stafford, however, seeing a look on 33 percent of his routes. Allen will be tough to trust as a fantasy option unless or until his snaps and routes increase. He could be a deep league option in Week 8 against the Chargers, however.
  • LA Tight End #89
It was Davis Allen who caught two of Matthew Stafford’s three touchdown tosses as the Rams leaned into heavy three tight end-set usage with Davante Adams sidelined indefinitely with a hamstring injury. Though Higbee led Rams tight ends in pass routes, his lack of red zone involvement left him out in the statistical cold. Trying to figure out which LA tight end is going to go off in a given week is going to be a continual headache for fantasy gamers in the coming weeks.
  • LA Tight End #89
Higbee lost volume to Colby Parkinson in this one. Higbee also had the ball ripped from his possession by Cardinals LB Cody Simon while trying to fall forward for extra yards on the Rams’ seventh drive, further reducing his fantasy output. With Parkinson playing well, Higbee is a shakier, low-end TE1 against the Raiders next week.
  • LA Tight End #84
Parkinson played effectively against the Cardinals’ zone coverage this afternoon. He bagged a first down after finding a soft spot downfield on the Rams’ fourth drive, and deftly hurdled a defender on a one-yard gain a few plays later. His touchdown occurred on the Rams’ final possession and required post-catch effort, barreling through contact and extending for the score. Parkinson is a touchdown-dependent TE2 against the Raiders in Week 7.
  • LA Tight End #87
He got in a limited session and the Rams apparently trust him to play despite a pair of missed practices on Wednesday and Thursday. Colby Parkinson (shoulder) also avoided the final report. Tyler Higbee is the Rams tight end you should be using at this point.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans did not have an update on David Montgomery’s groin injury when speaking with the media on Monday

Montgomery, who missed the Texans’ last two games with his injury, is coming off the team’s Week 8 bye, and there was some hope he might be able to get on the field for Week 9’s game against the Chargers. While that may still be the case, it’s possible we will need to wait until Wednesday, when the team releases its first injury report, to see how Montgomery is trending heading into the weekend. The 29-year-old running back has struggled mightily this season even when healthy, rushing for 138 yards and two touchdowns on 52 carries while averaging a dismal 2.7 YPC. Even if he is active against the Chargers, Montgomery would be hard to trust as anything more than an RB3/Flex play given his performance pre-injury.

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said “we’ll see” when asked if A.J. Brown (knee) could practice this week.

This is basically a non-answer from Vrabel, who said the team will see how Brown progresses through the week and how he responds to treatment. Brown missed Week 8’s game against the Dolphins after he suffered what was described as a flare up” of a knee issue that has plagued him for some time. It’s far too early to assume Brown will be able to go in Week 9 against the Packers given the timing of his injury last week, so his status will be one to keep an eye on throughout the week.

Chargers signed CB Jalyn Armour-Davis, formerly of the Titans.

Armour-Davis saw his 2025 season come to an end in Week 17 when he suffered a torn Achilles. The 27-year-old corner has spent the last 11 months rehabbing his injury and is now set to make his return for the winless Chargers. To the surprise of nobody, Armour-Davis is yet another player with ties to a Harbaugh brother, as he began his career playing under John Harbaugh with the Ravens from 2022 to 2024. Now, he’ll have a chance to play under Jim Harbaugh and could see playing time in the coming weeks once he gets up to speed. Armour-Davis allowed 24 receptions for 346 yards and two touchdowns on 31 targets last season while with the Titans, earning a PFF coverage grade up 49.6.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Breece Hall (quad) is “now good to go and should play next week” against the Chiefs.

It was reported on Sunday that Hall was “hoping for next week,” which is now here, as the Jets prepare to take on the Chiefs in Kansas City. After logging a week of limited practices and entering last weekend as questionable, Hall was still scratched from Week 8’s game against the Raiders, leading some to believe he had suffered a setback in his recovery. Hopefully that was more of a case of the Jets exercising caution with their RB1, especially with Braelon Allen playing well in his absence. Hall’s status will still be one to monitor, but this is a very optimistic report on him to start the week.

Jaguars DT DaVon Hamilton suffered a torn quad in Week 8’s win over the Colts.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was the first to report the injury. This is expected to be a season-ender for Hamilton, who has totaled 16 tackles and a half sack this season. Hamilton has earned a 74.0 PFF defensive grade this season and is a key contributor top-five run defense.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said “we’re in the business of keeping good players” when asked if the team would consider trading Breece Hall before the deadline.

The Jets are 2-6 and Braelon Allen has put together a solid few weeks in Hall’s absence. As a result, there has been some speculation as to whether or not the Jets would consider moving Hall, who has missed the last five games with a quad injury. In addition to saying the Jets are “in the business of keeping good players,” Glenn also was sure to remind the media that Hall is “one of our better players,” suggesting there are no plans to move the 25-year-old back at this year’s deadline. If he’s able to play next week against the Chiefs, Hall would fall somewhere in the RB2 ranks in his return.

Saquon Barkley said the Eagles informed him that they don’t intend to trade him ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

Speaking with the media early Monday morning, Barkley said he was informed that the team would not be trading him despite falling to 2-6 on the season after Sunday night’s loss to Washington. Barkley rushed 13 times for 30 yards and a touchdown in the loss while catching one pass for another 24 yards. The soon-to-be 30-year-old back could have decent trade value for the Eagles in what is shaping up to be a lost season, but it sounds like he’s in the team’s future plans heading into 2027. Barkley is playing through injuries and has just 56 carries for 274 yards and two touchdowns this season, and has caught seven passes for another 41 yards. Assuming he can get in another week of practice this week, he’ll be a fringe RB1/RB2 in Week 9 against the Giants.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Tyler Huntley is going to miss “extended time” after suffering a turf toe injury in Week 8’s loss to the Bills.

Even in the best-case scenario, Huntley felt like a long shot to play in Thursday night’s game against the Jaguars, but it sounds like this is going to be a multi-week absence. An MRI will confirm the severity of his injury in the days ahead, but for now, rookie UDFA Joe Fagnano is expected to draw the start against the Jags for the 4-4 Ravens. Lamar Jackson, who will be placed on IR in the coming days, will undergo surgery to repair the thumb he dislocated in Sunday’s game, meaning the Ravens will bring in a veteran QB through a trade or free agency in the near future. It should go without saying, but all of the Ravens’ key fantasy assets will receive a noticeable downgrade with Jackson and Huntley both out.

YaYa Diaby is believed to have suffered a sprained MCL after the Buccaneers’ Week 8 win over the Falcons.

Diaby will undergo an MRI to confirm the severity of the injury, but according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the team his hopeful that this injury will “not cause him to miss extended time.” Diaby has 16 tackles, three sacks, and one interception this season, with all three of his sacks coming in the Bucs’ Week 7 win over the Panthers. Even if he doesn’t miss too much time, it’s possible he’ll be sidelined for at least Week 9’s game against the Bears on Sunday Night Football.

Chig Okonkwo caught 2-of-4 targets for 32 yards in the Commanders’ Week 8 win over the Eagles.

Okonkwo flashed his athletic ability with a full-stretch reception in the second half but it was not enough to overshadow a first quarter fumble. The spry veteran has now been held to four receptions or fewer in four of five appearances in the low volume Washington pass offense, unable to return consistent fantasy value through the absence of Terry McLaurin. He is best left on fantasy benches in a Week 9 matchup against the Rams.
