The Tennessee Am flashed his potential in the fall with notable rounds of 64 and 65 on Friday and Sunday of the Bermuda Championship (T65 due to a Saturday 85). He pegged it last week at PGA WEST and missed the cut, but certainly held his own, just three shots off the torrid cutline pace at the AmEx. Gamers should continue to monitor the youngster’s progress as he could be on the fast track to the big show. Others to punch their ticket today included: Harrison Kingsley (71), Spencer Levin (71), and Robert Garrigus (71).

The freshman played his way into this event by winning the inaugural Elite Amateur Cup. He notched top 5s in four of the six events he entered in that series. Along with his entry into this week’s event, he also earned a Korn Ferry Tour start of his choosing and a spot at the final qualifying stage for the U.S. Open. Surratt currently ranks 17th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings but he reached the No. 1 spot in the Data Golf amateur rankings. It may be asking too much for him to contend right out of the gate but fans should certainly keep a close eye on him this week to see how he fares against PGA TOUR competition.
