The Swede was the fifth-to-last man in the field but his time was short-lived at Congaree Golf Club. He split 8-of-14 fairways and landed just six greens in regulation. On top of that, he also three-putted on two occasions. The total damage was -6.4 strokes gained tee-to-green. Making his 440th career start on the PGA TOUR, he now has 10 mid-tournament WDs on his resume.

The NC State product manages a light schedule these days, as he plays from a low-status category (Beyond 150th on Prior Season’s FEC Points List). This season he is 0-for-3 on the PGA TOUR but perhaps an event closer to home will spark something for the 43-year-old Raleigh resident. Gamers should keep their expectations in check, though, as Pettersson hasn’t landed a top 35 since the 2017 Valero Texas Open.

The South African was in contention last week at Muirfield Village Golf Club where he sat T4 thru 54 holes and finished solo 4th when all was said and done. From there, he headed home to Florida to play U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying at The Bear’s Club. This is good news, letting us know the WD is not injury-related. Gamers should remove him from any weekly lineup considerations.

A majority of the players still have to finish round two on Saturday morning, as Dublin, OH was hit with rain for much of the last two days.

The win got him into the U.S. Open next week, so he doesn’t have to go try to qualify for it on Monday. He played a smart round of golf on Sunday, never opening the door for anyone else to really challenge him. He will be a hot pickup in fantasy leagues next week, despite the fact he putts with a long putter.

Pettersson and Austin will tee off at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday and the weather in Columbus is cooperating today, so they should be able to finish the event tonight. Zach Johnson sits at 8-under, Phil Mickelson’s at 7-under and Adam Scott is at 6-under par.

After opening his season with a co-runner-up at the Sony, he’s posted three finishes outside the top 30, but you know that you can trust him in the long-term. While he hit just 10 greens at PGA National today, he got up and down seven of eight times. Two of the par saves measured 11'8" (15th hole) and 14'3" (17th). He also rolled in four birdies including conversions of 21'6" and 31'4" at the 11th and eighth holes, respectively. He signed his card three strokes off the clubhouse lead.

Mired in a bit of a slump -- no top 30 among four paydays in his last six starts -- Pettersson took out his aggression on Redstone today. He split 11 (of 14) fairways, hit 16 greens and buried eight birdies to offset a long bogey. Five of his birdies measured from 10'1" to 13'5". He also poured in a par save of 10'11" at the fifth hole.

This was Pettersson’s first tournament since his RBC Heritage win, and he struggled finding fairways (53.6 percent) and hitting greens (63.9 percent). His last missed cut was at Bay Hill, and he followed that with a runner-up finish at the Shell Houston Open and the aforementioned win at the Heritage. He is skipping the Wells Fargo where he finshed T9 a year ago.

After the recent winner in Harbour Town missed the cut in New Orleans on Friday, he wrote the following on Twitter: “never fun to mc but found something on the last couple of holes today. Going to put it to the test at Wells Fargo next week.” Pettersson has played in all nine previous editions of the WFC. Last year’s T9 is his only career top 20 at the event.
