The 23-year-old Bergeron earns his third career start on the PGA Tour and first since the 2020 Farmers Insurance Open, where he missed the cut. The former LSU standout played in the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills (MC) and has made three starts on the Korn Ferry Tour since 2019, with a best KF finish of T-71 at the 2019 Chitimacha Louisiana Open. This season, Bergeron has made four cuts in seven events on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica, with top-10 finishes at the Puerto Plata Open (T-2) in December and the Banco Del Pacifico Open (T-3) in June. At the Puerto Plata Open, Bergeron recorded both a career-high Tour Latinoamerica result and a career-low round (63) on his way to second place at Playa Dorada GC. He recorded four rounds in the 60s, including the final-round 63, to finish five shots behind runaway winner Brandon Matthews. Bergeron carded three eagles during the week, two coming at the par-5 first, a hole he was a cumulative 6-under par. He closed the year at ninth on the Points List.

  • During his freshman year at LSU, Bergeron had the fourth-best scoring average on the team but he did pick up an individual win. Speaking of his teammates at LSU, they made big waves today, as Philip Barbaree matched him at 11-under 133 here in Texas to earn his spot, as well. Across other sectionals, Luis Gagne took care of business in Jupiter and recent grad Sam Burns also lapped the field in Memphis. Joining Bergeron and Barbaree from this sectional was Chris Naegel (-10). Notables to fall shy in Richmond include Mark Hubbard, Matthew Wolf, Cameron Champ, Steven Bowditch, Carlos Ortiz, and Angel Cabrera.
