The golf season in Hawaii again starts at Waialae Country Club next year as a PGA Tour Champions event that will be called the Sony Championship.
Stewart Cink has won the first two majors this year on the PGA Tour Champions, though isn’t thinking about the Grand Slam this week at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio. He just wants the U.S. Senior Open title that he fell just short of last year.

AROUND THE GOLF WORLD

George McNeill’s goal was to make the cut in his first U.S. Senior Open. McNeill not only safely guaranteed he would play the weekend at Scioto Country Club, he shot a 4-under 68 on Friday to open a two-stroke lead.
Lucas Glover and Zac Blair played in the morning and each posted a 63, a good start for both as the PGA Tour heads into the final two months.
Cink was the only player to make five birdies on the back nine at Scioto Country Club on Thursday, shooting a 3-under 67 for a share of the first-round lead in the U.S. Senior Open with Charlie Wi.
The tournament returns to Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, for the first time since 2016.
For only the second time in the 11 years since he last won the John Deere Classic, Jordan Spieth is returning to the Deere and will skip the Scottish Open the following week.
Sergio Garcia will miss the British Open for the third time in four years after he failed to get among the 20 spots on four courses during 36-hole qualifying.
The eight signature events were won by eight players, no different from last year when seven players won the seven $20 million tournaments.

It’s Hovland’s eighth victory on Tour and first since the 2025 Valspar Championship.
Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland will decide their white-knuckle duel in a playoff at 9 a.m. ET on Peacock and NBCSN.
