Phillies starter Cole Hamels could be traded this winter, but the lefty’s contract includes a 20-team no-trade list. Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that Hamels is updating the list, due on November 1.

Currently, the teams to which Hamels can be traded are the Dodgers, Angels, Padres, Cardinals, Nationals, Braves, Yankees, Red Sox, and Rangers. Heyman writes that the Red Sox and Cubs have shown interest in the past and are expected to continue to show interest as long as the Phillies make Hamels available. It will be interesting to see if Hamels’ updated list allows for a trade to the Cubs.

The Phillies are expected to at least shop Hamels during the off-season, as he remains the organization’s best method to infuse their minor league system with premium talent.

Hamels is coming off of the best season of his career despite a 9-9 record. He finished with a 2.46 ERA over 204 2/3 innings with a 198/59 K/BB ratio. He has $96 million and four years remaining on his six-year, $144 million contract signed back in July 2012.
