As expected the Rockies have signed manager Walt Weiss to a contract extension after he originally signed on for a one-year deal last offseason, with Troy Renck of the Denver Post reporting that the new deal is for three seasons.

Weiss left a high school coaching gig to become the Rockies’ manager and went 74-88 for a last place finish in his first season, so a three-year contract is certainly a substantial commitment from the team’s point of view. No word yet on the monetary details.
