Bears tight end Colston Loveland had a breakout game in Chicago’s wild Week 9 victory over Cincinnati and now he’s been recognized by the league for his performance.

Loveland has been named NFC offensive player of the week.

The No. 10 overall pick of this year’s draft, Loveland caught six passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns — including the game-winning, 58-yard score with just 17 seconds left in the contest. All of those marks were career highs.

In seven games with five starts this season, Loveland has 17 receptions for 234 yards with two TDs.

Loveland and the Bears will be back in action on Sunday against the Giants.

The Bears announced a trade for a defensive end on Tuesday while putting another one on injured reserve.

Dayo Odeyingbo tore his Achilles in Chicago’s Week 10 win over the Bengals and will miss the rest of the season. That injury likely contributed to the pre-deadline move to acquire Joe Tryon-Shoyinka from the Browns.

The Bears traded a 2026 sixth-round pick that originally belonged to the Eagles to Cleveland in exchange for the 2021 first-round pick.

Odeyingbo, who signed a one-year deal this offseason, had 21 tackles and a sack. Tryon-Shoyinka is also on a one-year contract and he had nine tackles for Cleveland.

The Bears also announced that they placed offensive lineman Ricky Stromberg on the practice squad injured reserve list and signed offensive lineman Kyle Hergel to their practice squad.

The Browns and Bears have agreed to a trade ahead of Tuesday afternoon’s deadline.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Browns will trade defensive end Joe Tryon-Shoyinka to the Bears. The Browns will also trade a seventh-round pick to Chicago while the Bears will send back a sixth-round pick.

Tryon-Shoyinka was a Buccaneers first-round pick in 2021 and he signed a one-year deal with the Browns as a free agent this offseason. He had nine tackles in eight appearances for Cleveland and he had 138 tackles, 15 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery during his time in Tampa.

The Bears lost defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo to a torn ACL in Week 9, so the position was an obvious one for the team to address ahead of the deadline. He’ll join Montez Sweat and Austin Booker as options on the edge in Chicago.

The Bears have lost defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo for the rest of the season.

Odeyingbo left the locker room on crutches after Sunday’s win over the Bengals and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that he has been diagnosed with a torn Achilles.

The Bears signed Odeyingbo to a three-year, $48 million contract as a free agent in March. He has 21 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack on the season.

Montez Sweat, Austin Booker, Dominique Robinson, and Daniel Hardy are the other defensive ends on the active roster in Chicago. There was already some thought the Bears could try to bolster their pass rush and the injury news may make them more motivated in the remaining hours before the trade deadline.

The two biggest upsets of the 2025 NFL season happened simultaneously on Sunday, upending the NFC North in the process.

The Panthers were 13-point underdogs, but they beat the Packers 16-13 in Green Bay. That was the biggest upset of this NFL season.

At the same time that the Panthers were pulling off their upset, the 9.5-point underdog Vikings were beating the Lions in Detroit. That was the second-biggest upset of this NFL season. Prior to Sunday, teams favored by more than nine points were 11-0 straight up.

The Packers and Lions are the top two teams in the NFC North, and both of them losing, with the Lions losing to an NFC North rival and the Bears also winning, turned the NFC North into the NFL’s most competitive division. The Packers are now in first place at 5-2-1, the Lions are in second at 5-3, owning the head-to-head tiebreaker over the 5-3 Bears, and a game ahead of the 4-4 Vikings.

What once looked like a two-team race between the Packers and Lions now looks like a four-team race, thanks to two major upsets.
