Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said in a Monday morning radio appearance that he expects left tackle Will Campbell to miss the team’s Week 13 Monday night game against the Giants with a knee injury and he shared a bit more about the first-round pick’s outlook during a press conference later in the day.

Vrabel reiterated that he expects Campbell to miss time — the Patriots have a bye in Week 14 — and added that the team does not think that this injury will mean the end of Campbell’s rookie season, although he didn’t rule out an injured reserve stint for the tackle.

“He won’t be out there this week and it’s gonna be a couple weeks,” Vrabel said. “We’ll have to make a decision here on the roster to see how long that’ll be and go from there. It’s nothing that’s gonna hopefully put him out for the entire season.”

Vederian Lowe replaced Campbell against the Bengals on Sunday, but Vrabel did not say if Lowe or Marcus Bryant will get the nod against the Giants. The Patriots are also expected to be without left guard Jared Wilson in Week 13, so there will be a new look on the line in multiple spots.

Jordon Hudson, the 24-year-old girlfriend of 73-year-old future Hall of Fame NFL coach (and current North Carolina coach) Bill Belichick clearly loves attention. If she follows through on her latest claim, she’ll be getting far more attention that she ever could have bargained for.

Hudson posted on Instagram that she’s suing Pablo Torre, the podcasting journalist (or journalisting podcaster) who has devoted multiple episodes to the Belichick-Hudson relationship.

Based on the photo accompanying her “I’m suing you @pablotorre” message, she apparently will focus any legal claims (if any legal claims are made) on Torre’s contention from May 2025 that she was “banned” from the North Carolina football facility.

Setting aside the question of whether “banned” meant “she’s no longer allowed to work at a place she was never employed in the first place” or “they’re barricading the doors and calling security if she shows up,” a potential defamation claim would include an important hurdle, while also potentially opening Pandora’s box.

Hudson has become a public figure. The “actual malice” standard would apply. When a public figure has allegedly been defamed, it’s not enough for the statement to be false. The public-figure plaintiff must show that the party making the statement knew it was false or acted with reckless disregard as to the truth or falsity of the claim.

Beyond that, the discovery process would be rigorous — and potentially entertaining. The harm caused by defamation is determined largely by assessing the impact of the false statement on the plaintiff’s reputation. This requires determining the plaintiff’s reputation before the false statement was made. Which opens the door to all sorts of questions and other inquiries that the plaintiff may regard as irrelevant, annoying, and otherwise unfortunate consequences of pulling the pin on the litigation grenade.

Once upon a time (a long time ago), I practiced law. Even in non-defamation cases, I said to potential clients, “Think about the one thing about yourself that you wouldn’t want others to know. If you go forward with this case, you need to assume many others will find out about it.”

Before Hudson sues Torre (or anyone, for that matter), someone with a law degree and experience practicing law needs to explain that to her. She’ll be inviting a degree of scrutiny that will make the various New York Post articles look like puff pieces in the preschool newspaper.

It also would likely entail a sworn, multi-hour (and possibly multi-day) deposition of Belichick, who would not be able to grumble his way around answering questions he doesn’t want to answer.

So, no, it would be a bad idea to sue Torre. From the perspective of someone who runs a media company, it would be very good for business.

Patriots left guard Jared Wilson left Sunday’s win over the Bengals with an ankle injury and he could be looking at some more time out of the lineup.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Wilson has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain. Recovery times from those injuries can vary, but they often keep players out for multiple weeks.

Ben Brown replaced Wilson in Sunday’s win.

The Patriots play the Giants on Monday night and then have a bye in Week 14, so the third-round pick could miss just one game while getting multiple weeks to recover.

Wilson’s injury came on New England’s third offensive play and they lost left tackle Will Campbell to a knee injury later in the game. Head coach Mike Vrabel said on Monday that he expects Campbell to miss time, so the 10-2 AFC East frontrunners are going to have to adapt on their offensive line heading into Week 13.

Patriots left tackle Will Campbell left Sunday’s win over the Bengals with a knee injury and it looks like the team will have to try for their 11th win of the season without the help of the first-round pick.

Head coach Mike Vrabel said that he didn’t have a full update on Campbell’s condition during a Monday morning appearance on WEEI, but did share that he thinks Campbell will miss their Week 13 game against the Giants at the very least.

“We won’t know much,” Vrabel said. “Yesterday was not a great day for us with injuries. There will be some players that went out of that game yesterday that won’t be available Monday night. Hopefully we get some of those guys back. We have an extra day. I won’t be able to tell you much. I wouldn’t imagine that Will’s going play in the game. I don’t think that will be something that will happen. That injury is going to probably be more than a week or two.”

The Patriots have a bye after facing the Giants.

Left guard Jared Wilson suffered an ankle injury on Sunday, which left the Patriots with Vederian Lowe and Ben Brown on the left side of their offensive line. Special teamer Brendan Schooler and defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga also picked up injuries in the win.

The Patriots won their ninth game in a row on Sunday. It came with a potentially significant cost.

Rookie left tackle Will Campbell suffered a knee injury. And while coach Mike Vrabel had no update after the game, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that more will be known tomorrow, after an MRI is performed.

The concern in any situation like this is that the player has suffered a possible ACL tear.

Campbell was replaced on Sunday by Vederian Lowe. Lowe would presumably get the assignment if Campbell misses time.

The fourth overall pick in the 2025 draft, Campbell has started all 11 games during his rookie season.

In Week 13, the Patriots host the Giants on Monday night. Their bye comes in Week 14.
