Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk created a bit of a controversy last month when he said player-organized lockout workouts were a “disaster.” Now Hawk has waded into that subject again.

Hawk says that while some teams might need player-organized workouts, the Packers don’t because the key players on the 2011 roster will be the same as the key players on the 2010 roster, and they all already know their playbooks.

We haven’t had any full team workouts. We’ve had small groups of guys here and there working out together,” Hawk said. “The great thing about Green Bay is we’re not banking on having any rookies coming in and play. We’re not putting in any new schemes. For us the main thing is making sure everyone is coming into camp in shape and on time. We have a lot of guys who are accountable and take care of their bodies this whole summer.”

Hawk had wrist surgery in February, but he said he’s completely healthy and will be eager to go full speed whenever training camp starts. Even if he’s not interested in working out as a team before that.
