The Bears’ top two wide receivers were among nine players not practicing on Wednesday for Chicago.
Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) and Brandon Marshall (ankle) both appear on the injury report for the Bears, who host Tampa Bay on Sunday. Marshall was on the report a week ago with his ankle ailment, while Jeffery has not been on the injury list since the third week of the season. As was the case now, Jeffery was listed then with a hamstring injury.
Jeffery and Marshall played major roles in the Bears’ 21-13 victory vs. Minnesota on Sunday, with Jeffery catching 11 passes for 135 yards and a touchdown and Marshall hauling in seven passes for 90 yards and two scores. Neither Jeffery nor Marshall has missed a game this season for Chicago (4-6).
The other Bears not practicing were linebacker Lance Briggs (not injury related), defensive tackle Ego Ferguson (illness), tailback Matt Forte (not injury related), defensive tackle Jay Ratliff (not injury related), defensive end Trevor Scott (knee), linebacker Darryl Sharpton (hamstring) and wide receiver Chris Williams (hamstring).
Three Bears were limited Wednesday: right tackle Jordan Mills (ribs), offensive lineman Eben Britton (illness) and wide receiver Josh Morgan.
The Bears face a shortened week of rest, recovery and preparation after Sunday’s game vs. Tampa Bay, with a Thanksgiving Day game at Detroit next on the schedule. Thus, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Bears tried to manage practice reps accordingly.
The Bears will release another practice report on Thursday, with their final injury report due Friday.
