We already know who the Colts are taking with the first pick and we now know that Andrew Luck will be the starting quarterback from his first day in camp.

Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians told Albert Breer of NFL.com that there “ain’t no doubt” that Luck will be with the starting offense right away. Given that the current competition is Drew Stanton, that’s about as unsurprising as the fact that the Colts are making Luck the pick but it’s always nice to see a team do away with smoke and mirrors and just say what they know is true.

Luck won’t be able to fully start working with the Colts until Stanford’s school year comes to an end on June 7th. He’ll be able to attend the team’s rookie minicamp in May, but league rules bar him from returning after that point.

With that out of the way, there’s nothing left to do but reach agreement on a contract. That’s not likely to happen until the league and union finalize the rookie salary pool for this season. They have been working on it, but are still hammering out the final details.
