Antonio Gates misses third straight practice

Missing three straight practices is usually a sure sign that a player will be out for the week.

With Antonio Gates, it’s not so simple. The San Diego-Union Tribune says the “smart guess” is on Gates playing against the Patriots based on his comments this week and his history of playing through pain without practicing before. Gates has made 85 straight starts and is officially questionable.

Wide receivers Malcom Floyd (hamstring) and Legedu Naanee (hamstring) are both doubtful, while kicker Nate Kaeding (groin) and linebacker Larry English (foot) are out for the best 2-4 team of all time.

For the Patriots, Fred Taylor (toe) and safety Jarrad Page (calf) are out. Cornerback Kyle Arrington (groin) and Julian Edelman (concussion) are questionable after being limited in practice all week.
