Colin Kaepernick gets contacts, because improved vision can’t hurt

The physical talent was always there, but the accuracy, not so much.

So maybe some corrective lenses will help. It’s worth a shot, and if it works they can make a movie about it.

According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick got contact lenses this offseason to improve his short vision, which he’s still getting used to.

Kaepernick was wearing a tinted visor during practice last week, which was to help make sure the new contacts stayed in place while minimizing the glare.

“For me, it was something I need to protect my eyes,” Kaepernick said when asked about the visor. “Been doing a lot of things to make sure my vision’s correct. So the visor’s been there to help with that.”

He’d have to get permission from the league to wear a tinted visor during games, which would require him to prove medical necessity. Players can wear clear visors without permission.

But if he could get back to the way he was playing when he helped the 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance, they’d probably put him in horn-rimmed glasses in hopes of turning him into Rick Vaughn.
