The wait for cornerback Sam Shields’ return from his latest concussion will continue for at least another week.

Shields has not played since getting injured in Week One and has now suffered four concussions in the last six years. Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Thursday that Shields will miss this Sunday’s game against the Giants as well.

“He’s making some improvements,” McCarthy said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. “He will not be available this week.”

Shields missed four games with a concussion late last season, so his history is a concerning one as he deals with his current head injury. Shields went to see a concussion specialist last month and reports following that meeting suggested he’d be cleared eventually, although it remains unclear when that might be.

The Packers were picked apart through the air against the Lions in Week Three and the Giants will surely like to do the same to on Sunday night so they can shift the conversation about their offense away from Odell Beckham’s behavior.
