October was a mixed bag for the Cardinals as they went 2-2-1 in their five games, but it was a good month for running back David Johnson.
Johnson had at least 100 yards of offense in each of the five contests and scored five touchdowns over the span, which was enough to make him the choice as NFC offensive player of the month. It’s the first time that Johnson has been so honored.
Johnson ran 109 times for 488 yards and caught 25 passes for 238 yards in the five games. He scored two touchdowns in a win over the 49ers in Week Five and added three more scores in a Monday night rout of the Jets the next week.
Johnson now ranks third in the NFL in rushing and has already surpassed his rushing totals for all of last season. Johnson figures to get plenty of work the rest of the way, which should make him a contender for further individual accolades even if the Cardinals continue to struggle to find the consistency they had last season.
