In an offseason full of troubling player news in the NFL, it’s nice to pass along a story from one of the vast majority of players that handle themselves with class.
Texans linebacker DeMeco Ryans announced Thursday he’s donating $300,000 to the University of Alabama to endow a scholarship. It will go to a football player studying in Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration.
“I have always wanted to do this since the day I left,” Ryans said in a statement released by the school. “The University of Alabama is such a special place to me, and I am honored to have the opportunity to endow a scholarship. I had a great time here, and I grew as a person here. This is a great time for me, and I am very excited.”
Ryans was a four-time Academic All-SEC and graduated cum laude in December 2005.
