DeSean Jackson pulled from practice after hamstring “twinge”

Things were moving in the right direction for wide receiver DeSean Jackson to return to action against the Jets this week, but Thursday’s practice may have thrown a wrench in the works.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said, via Liz Clarke of the Washington Post, that Jackson was pulled out of Thursday’s session after feeling a “twinge” in his injured hamstring while trying to run down a deep pass. Jackson hurt the hamstring in the season opener in a similar fashion and has missed the last four weeks while recovering.

Gruden added that he was still hopeful about Jackson being available to face the Jets, but Thursday’s development suggests that he’s not quite ready to go full speed during a game.

Injuries look like they will be a problem on offense for the Redskins whether Jackson is able to play or not. Left tackle Trent Williams and center Kory Lichtensteiger haven’t been practicing this week because of injuries, which could leave Kirk Cousins with little time to throw to Jackson or anyone else who might be on the field come Sunday.
