Jim Caldwell really doesn’t want to talk about Joique Bell

Based on the injury report, Lions running back Joique Bell appears to have suffered a setback between Wednesday and Thursday.

Lions Coach Jim Caldwell doesn’t want to talk about it. When Bell’s status was brought up at his Friday morning press conference, Caldwell told reporters to “check the report.”

That doesn’t answer the question. Or any question, really.

Bell was a full participant Wednesday and was listed as limited on Thursday with an ankle injury. Bell, who’s listed as the team’s starting running back, has missed the last three games and had three offseason surgeries on his ankle and Achilles tendon.

So, when Bell goes from fully participating in practice to being listed as limited, it’s fair to wonder if there was a setback, if the team was just playing it cautious or if limited means really limited or just took a couple plays off. Whatever the case, Caldwell doesn’t want to talk about it.

Earlier this week the Lions promoted running back George Winn from the practice squad to replace rookie Zach Zenner, who was placed on injured-reserve. Running back Theo Riddick has been listed as a limited participant this week due to a groin injury.
