Getting released by the Falcons last week isn’t the end of the road for defensive end John Abraham.
Abraham doesn’t know whether or not there could be a return engagement in the cards with Atlanta, but he does know that there’s still some unfinished business he’d like to take care of before riding off into the sunset once and for all. In addition to saying he’s still driven by the chance to win a championship, Abraham pointed to a couple of personal milestones that he’d like to reach.
“I think I got a couple more years in me. I still think I can -- I’m trying to catch Mike, Michael Strahan. He’s got 20 more sacks than me, and I’m trying to get that all-time forced fumble [record]. So I still wanna play; I still enjoy the game. I still feel good enough to play,” Abraham said in an interview with 790 The Zone, via SportsRadioInterviews.com.
Abraham has 44 forced fumbles for his career, three behind Jason Taylor on the all-time list, and he’s tied for first among active players with Dwight Freeney. Freeney’s been talked about as a replacement for Abraham in Atlanta, which would add a little twist to both of their bids for the all-time lead in that category.
