There was a lot of interest in the question of whether the Redskins would keep cornerback Josh Norman on Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant all day this week and all indications were that Norman would be staying on the left side of the Washington defense.
That’s how things went on the first Cowboys possession of the day and it worked out pretty well for the home team. Bryant had two catches for 35 yards, but Norman was on Brice Butler when Dak Prescott’s pass to Butler went for an incompletion on third-and-goal.
The Cowboys settled for a Dan Bailey field goal to take a 3-0 lead.
Bryant made one catch after motioning away from Norman and his other came against Bashaud Breeland, who had a rough time against Antonio Brown last Monday. A pass in his direction while Norman was in coverage was incomplete and Breeland recovered to knock a pass away from Bryant in the end zone as the Redskins defense bent but didn’t break to open the game.
