As Thursday’s franchise tag deadline approaches, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are trying to secure the services of receiver Antonio Bryant. If the Buccaneers are unable to sign Bryant to a contract extension this week, the unrestricted free agent is a strong candidate for the franchise tag after catching 83 passes for 1,248 yards and seven touchdowns last season. New Bucs coach Raheem Morris, while attending a Tampa Bay Lightning game against the Washington Capitals, made it clear that the team wants to hold onto Bryant. “We just want Antonio to be in a Tampa Bay Buccaneer uniform,’’ Morris told the Tampa Tribune. “Anytime you can have that kind of production, be that good of a teammate, do the things he did last year, that’s pretty special. We’re just crossing our fingers right now hoping he’s a Buc. "[G.M.] Mark Dominik has been doing a great job to ensure that, so we’ll in the upcoming weeks. Hopefully he’ll be in a Bucs uniform wearing No. 89 running down the field scoring touchdowns.’’
