The Steelers lost quarterback Dennis Dixon on Sunday to a left knee injury. It was the same knee he injured during a Heisman run three years ago at Oregon.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Dixon will have an MRI once the team returns to Pittsburgh. We’re told that the team believes Dixon could have played again if necessary; Dixon was held out as a precaution.
Before exiting, Dixon completed four of six passes for 18 yards. Charlie Batch completed five of 11 passes for 25 yards. That’s 43 yards of passing offense.
And, by the way, Byron Leftwich currently isn’t on the roster.
UPDATE: Here’s coach Mike Tomlin talking about the 19-11 win, and the Dixon injury. Tomlin says, “I don’t know who’s gonna play quarterback next week. It won’t be me.”
