We were a little surprised to hear rumblings from Seahawks fans Sunday evening: When is it time to go to Charlie Whitehurst at quarterback?
Granted, Matt Hasselbeck has been inconsistent this year. He’s thrown one touchdown and four interceptions in two road games. The Seahawks somehow didn’t cross the 50-yard line after halftime Sunday.
“Matt needs to fight though this with the guys and see if we can work our way through it,” Pete Carroll said after the 20-3 loss via the Tacoma News Tribune.
Caroll said he didn’t consider taking Hasselbeck out and there will be no quarterback change in Seattle. It’s the only logical solution. The NFC West is very winnable and Hasselbeck gives the team the best chance to win.
He’s playing behind a ramshackle offensive line with a group of new skill position players. There are going to be ups and downs and it should take a prolonged losing streak for Whitehurst to get the call.
