Last week Texans offensive lineman David Quessenberry revealed that he was diagnosed with lymphoma. But today Quessenberry attended minicamp to visit with his teammates.
Quessenberry thanked the team for support and told his teammates that he was going to “kick cancer’s butt,” according to CSNHouston.com.
There’s been no word on how soon Quessenberry will be able to get back on the field, but he has expressed confident that he’ll return to the Texans. Coach Bill O’Brien made clear that he still considers Quessenberry part of the team.
“It was great to see him out there,” O’Brien said. “I think he was able to come to practice today, the doctors let him come to practice. He was able to say a few words to the team and I know it meant a lot to the team and I know it meant a lot to him.”
The 23-year-old Quessenberry, a sixth-round pick last year, had a very strong performance in training camp and the preseason but missed his entire rookie season when he suffered a broken foot in practice just days before the Week One opener. Quessenberry still hasn’t played in a regular-season game. Here’s hoping he makes it back on the field.
