Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III does not believe his season is over.
Griffin, who suffered a fracture in his left shoulder in Week One, said today that he’s optimistic about returning before the season is over.
“We’ve got six games left this year, a chance to finish strong, and if I get a chance to be a part of that, I definitely want to,” Griffin said, via the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Browns Executive Vice President of Football operations Sashi Brown said today that Griffin will have an opportunity to play again this year, so it appears that the team is still optimistic about Griffin as well.
The question, however, is whether it really makes any sense for the Browns to put Griffin back on the field. They seem to be more interested at this point in developing rookie Cody Kessler, and given Griffin’s injury issues it’s hard to see the franchise feeling confident that Griffin can stay healthy if he does get back on the field. The Browns still have the option of turning back to Griffin but that doesn’t make it a good idea.
