The Seahawks are getting back a veteran defensive back for the stretch run.

Cornerback Jeremy Lane has been taken off injured reserve/designated for return and placed on the 53-player roster, the club said Saturday. His return improves the Seahawks’ secondary depth in advance of Sunday’s home game against the Giants.

In a corresponding roster move, the Seahawks put reserve center/offensive guard Steve Schilling (knee) on injured reserve.

The 24-year-old Lane started and notched four tackles in the season opener vs. Green Bay. However, a groin injury has keep him out since. Lane played in 15 regular season games and all three playoff games as a reserve for Seattle a season ago.

Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio KJR and PFT suggests the Seahawks could look to re-sign Lemuel Jeanpierre in the coming weeks to bolster their offensive line reserves. Jeanpierre cannot rejoin the club until Week 12 after reaching an injury settlement in September because of a neck injury, Crabtree notes.
