Sidney Rice activated off PUP list

S. Rice1

The Vikings waited until the last minute, but wide receiver Sidney Rice will be active for Sunday’s game against the Packers.

The move was largely expected after Vikings coach Brad Childress said that Rice would have to play Sunday or risk being placed on injured reserve. Rice told Vikings spokesman Ed Werder that he would be ready to go soon after Childress’ remarks. The St. Paul Pioneer Press guesses that Rice will play between 25-35 snaps.

With Rice active, Brett Favre finally has all his weapons back (except Chester Taylor) from the team’s powerful 2009 offense. And it’s just in time for a game that could put the final nail in the coffin of the 2010 squad.
