The first official “Will Brett play in 2010?” article

On Tuesday, Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press became the first writer to raise the question that surely will be asked many times over the coming months, especially after Sunday’s thrilling win over the 49ers.

Will Brett Favre play for the Vikings in 2010?

Last month, he signed a two-year deal, with a base salary of $12 million in 2009 and $13 million next season. But, when the contract was signed, no one expected Favre to spend more than a year with the Vikings.

Now, with Favre looking 15 years younger in uniform than he does at a podium, it’s not out of the question to consider a 40-going-on-41 Favre playing one more year.

So the question will continue to be asked.

And we’ll get an answer in late August of next year, at the earliest.
