Todd Haley says he’s preparing for Landry Jones to make first start

Ben Roethlisberger keeps doing just enough to keep things interesting, but all signs continue to point to third-stringer Landry Jones starting this week for the Steelers against the Chiefs.

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley said he was preparing to start Jones unless he’s told otherwise.

Considering coach Mike Tomlin has already said he’s assuming Jones would start this week, and Roethlisberger himself acknowledging that he didn’t want to take reps away from Jones just for the heck of it, this shouldn’t be a surprise.

Jones looked more than competent in the second half of last week’s win over the Cardinals, and the bigger question might be whether they let Michael Vick remain the backup when everyone’s healthy.

Roethlisberger (knee) was listed as being a limited participant in practice, while Vick (hamstring) was out again today.
