Travel Demands Prompt Sanchez To Pass On Draft Invite

The NFL invited ten prospects to attend the draft in New York; only nine will attend. The absentee is USC quarterback Mark Sanchez, who has opted against making the trek to Manhattan due to a hectic travel schedule of late. “Mark’s been traveling so much to meet with different teams lately, he didn’t feel it was necessary to make the trip to New York,” Sanchez’s brother, Nick, told Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times. ESPN cameras might be present at Sanchez’s Southern California home. A cynical mind might perceive a connection between Sanchez’s decision to stay in L.A. for the draft and the recent launch of an ESPN studio in L.A. Two years ago, former Wisconsin tackle Joe Thomas opted to go fishing with his father in lieu of attending the draft.
