Cornerback Vontae Davis had a strong game for the Colts in Denver last Sunday and his presence on the field will be essential to the team’s hope of success against the Patriots this weekend.
It doesn’t look like a week with one missed practice, a pair of limited outings or a questionable tag on Friday’s injury report will keep him from being there. Coach Chuck Pagano indicated that Davis got that designation because of his limited participation because of a knee injury the last two days and not because the team had serious doubts about his ability to play in New England.
Davis sent the same message, saying, via Mike Chappell of RTV6, that the light workload this week was about resting up and making sure that he’s good to go for the AFC title tilt. The same goes for the team’s other starting corner Greg Toler, who followed the same pattern as Davis during the week and drew the same questionable designation on the team’s final injury report.
Having Davis might not make pulling off an upset on Sunday a sure thing, but the chances of it happening without him would be slimmer than anyone in Indianapolis would like.
