Irish Pick ‘Em, New NBC Sports Predictor Game Featuring $10,000 Jackpot, Debuts this Weekend for Notre Dame-Purdue

STAMFORD, Conn. – Sept. 16, 2021 – The No. 12 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (2-0) host the Purdue Boilermakers (2-0) this Saturday, Sept. 18, at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind., at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

NBC Sports’ Mike Tirico (play-by-play) and Drew Brees (game analyst) will call the game along with Kathryn Tappen (sideline reporter) and Terry McAulay (rules analyst).

Brees will be in the booth as his alma mater takes the field against the Irish, having played for the Boilermakers from 1997-2000 and placing third in the 2000 Heisman Trophy race.

After the game, Peacock will stream Notre Dame Peacock Postgame, an exclusive post-game show hosted by NBC Sports’ Jac Collinsworth and Corey Robinson. The show features Notre Dame Football Head Coach Brian Kelly’s press conference, analysis and commentary.

The ND on NBC Podcast, hosted by Jac Collinsworth, returned last week and will release weekly episodes throughout the season. On the latest episode, Collinsworth speaks with Notre Dame defensive end Isaiah Foskey. Episodes are released every Thursday, and can be found here.

This weekend, NBC Sports’ Irish Pick ‘Em, a new free-to-play contest featuring a $10,000 jackpot, debuts on the NBC Sports Predictor app.

The Fighting Irish defeated Toledo, 32-29, last weekend in their home opener at Notre Dame Stadium. Quarterback Jack Coan threw a game-winning, 18-yard touchdown pass to tight end Michael Mayer with 1:09 remaining in the fourth quarter. Last weekend’s game marked Brees’ college football debut as a commentator and was the first time a Fighting Irish Football game was available to watch exclusively on a streaming service.

Saturday marks the 87th all-time meeting between the in-state rivals, with the Fighting Irish holding a 58-26-2 advantage in the series. The schools last met on Sept. 13, 2014 as Notre Dame won, 30-14, at Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium.

Purdue moved to 2-0 on the season after topping UConn, 49-0, last weekend as quarterback Jack Plummer passed for 245 yards and four touchdowns and wide receiver David Bell had six catches for 121 yards and three touchdowns.

All remaining Notre Dame home games during the 2021 season will air on NBC and stream on Peacock.

This year, NBC Sports Group and Notre Dame kick off their 31st season. NBC Sports Group and the University of Notre Dame began their landmark Notre Dame Football relationship in 1991 and have renewed the partnership numerous times. The current agreement runs through the 2025 season.
