NBC Sports Group Launches NBC Sports MatchMaker App

NBC Sports Group recently launched the NBC Sports MatchMaker app, which helps Premier League fans locate, chat and meet up with each other to enjoy the thrill of watching matches with their fellow club supporters.

At game time, the app activates an interactive map that shows at which venues fans of a specific club are meeting, and the best bars and restaurants to watch football as voted on by other fans. In addition, users can seamlessly invite their friends to meet up in the moment or organize a get together in advance for an upcoming match, and start the pre-game banter early with an integrated group chat function.

Because the app is directly linked to NBC Sports Group’s Premier League schedule, fans can enable reminders about their team’s upcoming matches so they’ll never miss a kickoff, while the app’s news feed ensures they stay up to date with the latest Premier League stats, scores, and stories from ProSoccerTalk on NBCSports.com.

A full list of features on the NBC Sports MatchMaker app:

  • Locate fans in real time on an interactive map
  • Find the best bars and restaurants to watch your team as voted by real fans
  • Invite friends to watch a game with a match, friend and venue picker
  • Group chat with anyone invited to your meet-up
  • View match schedules, NBC Sports Group’s telecast schedule, and news and highlights from ProSoccerTalk on NBCSports.com
  • Elect to receive push notifications to alert fans of impending kickoffs for their team, breaking BPL news, new chat comments from friends, and exclusive offers for app users

NBC Sports Digital’s NFL Live Streaming Approaches 1 Billion Minutes

Since it pioneered live streaming of NFL games in 2008, NBC Sports Digital has totaled 997,821,600 minutes, and needs just over two million more to surpass one billion, which it expects to do with NBC Sports Live Extra’s stream of Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday, Feb. 1.

The nearly-billion total minutes come from 143 games, which include NBC’s pre-season, NFL Kickoff, Sunday Night Football, Thanksgiving, and post-season games.

In addition to being the first to live stream NFL games in 2008, NBC Sports Digital -- which named its live streaming product NBC Sports Live Extra in 2012 -- was also the first to stream an NFL post-season game and a Super Bowl when it did so in 2012.

More details of NBC Sports Live Extra’s live stream of Super Bowl XLIX will be announced soon.
