Bayern teammate backs USMNT’s Green for “many opportunities”

With Arjen Robben out for the preseason and maybe longer, USMNT winger Julian Green has a big opportunity to impress new manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The diminutive 21-year-old winger has already scored this preseason, and Green has the backing of Bayern Munich back Javi Martinez.

Green, of course, is a common subject with Bayern touring the United States this summer, and here’s what Martinez told ESPN’s Dermot Corrigan about the youngster.

From ESPN:

"[Green] is a young kid, with lots of potential, and for sure he will play well,” Martinez told ESPN FC. “He is very fast, he battles hard, moves well and scores goals. A very dynamic player. I think that this year he will get many opportunities.”

Green’s only five Bundesliga appearances came courtesy of a tough loan spell at Hamburg in 2014-15, and he’s made just two First Team appearances for Bayern inside of season play (both in the UEFA Champions League).

The time is now for Green to impress, or he’ll have to find a new club. Jurgen Klinsmann doesn’t wait for many (excepting Timmy Chandler. He waits for him with baited breath).
