Crimes and Misdemeanors: FC Dallas’ Blas Pérez to miss Wednesday’s match with Real Salt Lake

Major League Soccer’s Disciplinary Committee had to act quick on this one, as FC Dallas has a Wednesday game with Real Salt Lake. But act they did, suspending Blas Pérez for this left elbow to the jaw of Vancouver’s Jordan Harvey:

That one could have been worse, and while there’s no reason to think Pérez had any intent behind the blow, players need to be responsible for their actions as well as the safety of others. Tough call by the league but a nice one. Dallas will be without their best player for a key match, Pérez set for a one match suspension.

With Dallas hosting RSL tomorrow, the Disciplinary Committee needed to get rulings out today for those two teams. That means Fabian Espindola won’t receive any additional punishment for his two-footed tackle on Saturday, though that play seemed as much a slip as poor judgement.

For the rest of the league, however, you could hear more before the weekend ...
