Everton’s Tim Howard will be announced as the Colorado Rapids’ newest Designated Player, ProSoccerTalk understands.
UPDATE: The Rapids announced the move for Howard, 36, officially on Sunday at 11:20 a.m. ET.
It is believed Howard is on U.S. soil after flying back for the USMNT’s upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifiers home and away against Guatemala on Mar. 25 and Mar. 29.

The U.S. national team goalkeeper will join Colorado in July after the conclusion of the 2015-16 Premier League season.
After spending a decade a Goodison Park, Howard will move back to Major League Soccer on an expected deal of almost $3 million per season and has signed a three-year deal.
ProSoccerTalk revealed at the end of January that Howard was “highly likely” to be heading to Colorado in May and now the news is all but confirmed.
Howard started his career in MLS with the MetroStars from 1999-2003 before transferring to Manchester United. Howard then initially joined Everton on loan for the 2006-07 season and signed permanently on 2007, remaining on Merseyside ever since.
In recent months Howard has lost his starting spot to Joel Robles and he will now return back to the U.S. for the final years of his career.
