After Colombia beat Brazil on Wednesday, Venezuela has a chance to take control of Group C and be the first team to seal their place in the knockout round of the 2015 Copa America.

Following their shock 1-0 win over Colombia to open the tournament, La Vinotinto will fancy their chances of beating Peru in Valparaiso. Venezuela finished fourth in the last Copa America and could once again be the biggest surprises of this tournament.

Their 1-0 win over Colombia was a combination of resolute defending and a superb strike from the edge of the box by Salomon Rondon. That said, it will not be easy against a Peruvian outfit who finished third at the 2011 Copa America and held Brazil until the final minute of their opening game of 2015.

Peru took a shock lead against Brazil in that game with Christian Cueva scoring in the second minute but Neymar headed home in the fourth and Peru looked to be grabbing a point until stoppage time when Neymar’s defense-splitting pass set up Douglas Costa to slam home the winner. If Peru can replicate their performance from the Brazil game against Venezuela then they could easily win.

That would mean all four team in Group C would be level on three points each heading into the final round of games. There is plenty of life left in Group C, that’s for sure.
